With the Washington Nationals' Mitchell Parker set to take the mound, we kick off the week backing the New York Yankees elite top of their order as they are in a position to open up the scoring early. Shortly after that takes place, we turn our attention towards the AL East showdown between the Toronto Blue Jays and Boston Red Sox as both offenses get the benefit of swinging against a pair of struggling pitchers.

With the New York Yankees locked in a two-horse race with the Baltimore Orioles for the AL East division title, the Bronx Bombers are given a beautiful opportunity to create some separation at the top of the division standings against the lowly Washington Nationals. Winning the division is critical this year as the winner will receive a first-round bye in the playoffs while the loser will be forced to play in the wildcard round.
Should the Yankees want to further strengthen their position at the top of the division standings, then their offense will need to continue to terrorize opposing pitchers. The Yankees arguably field one of the best offenses in the league off the bats of AL MLB MVP front runner Aaron Judge and former All-Star Juan Soto, contributing to near the top of the board marks in Team Total Hits, RBIs, Total Runs Scored, and On Base Percentage.
Every bit of their offensive production will be on display in their matchup against the Nationals as Mitchell Parker is set to take the mound. Parker has struggled with keeping opposing runners off the bases and out of scoring position this season as he currently possesses a WHIP of 1.247 and ERA of 4.26. His defense also gives him little to no support in his efforts of limiting opposing offensive production as the Nationals' back end ranks 29th in Defensive Efficiency.
On the other side of the field, the Nationals' offense has quietly strung together a productive stretch of play and have moved up the board to near league average marks in the same previously mentioned offensive metrics. They will be given an opportunity to continue to succeed against Nestor Cortes as the Yankees pitcher has struggled with avoiding contact, taking the mound with an ERA of 4.00, a WHIP of 1.153, and 142 Hits Against.

Shortly after the conclusion of our first YRFI, we shift our focus towards the AL East divisional matchup between the Toronto Blue Jays and Boston Red Sox as a pair of struggling pitchers are set to take the mound. While the Blue Jays' hopes of playing in October look bleak, the Red Sox are still in contention for the playoffs as they are currently four games back from the Minnesota Twins in the wildcard standings.
Should the Red Sox want to claw away at the Twins' lead for the last wildcard spot, then their offense will need to continue to play at a high rate in order to mask their lack of defensive production. They will have the chance to do just that in this matchup as the Blue Jays Jose Berrios continues to struggle with his command. In 26 games played, Berrios enters the contest with a FIP of 4.97, 138 Hits Against, 46 Batters Walked, and 66 Earned Runs Allowed.
While the Red Sox offense has thrived over the course of the season, the Blue Jays have found themselves in the bottom half of the league in Team Total Hits, RBIs, Total Runs Scored, and On Base Percentage. Luckily for Toronto, their offense will be given an opportunity to round back into form against the Red Sox Nick Pivetta as he continues to put opposing offenses in scoring position as his ERA of 4.70 and FIP of 4.44 indicates.
