With Jordan Montgomery playing as one of the worst starting pitchers in the league, we continue to fade him in our daily YRFI series as he is set to face off against a quietly productive Rockies offense who excel at making contact. We then turn our sights towards the matchup between the Washington Nationals and Baltimore Orioles as both offenses get the benefit of going against a pair of underwhelming pitchers.
For more information about the YRFI market and what factors make them worth a wager, take a look at our breakdown of what are YRFI bets.

After the Los Angeles Dodgers went through a cold stretch while simultaneously battling through injuries, the Arizona Diamondbacks are now just 3.5 games back for first place in the NL West. They find themselves with a beautiful opportunity to continue to close the gap between them and the Dodgers in the division standings as their productive offense is set to battle it out against a Rockies defense that ranks dead last in Defensive Efficiency.
Productive may be an understatement as the Diamondbacks offense ranks top three across the board in Team Total Hits, RBIs, Total Runs Scored, and On Base Percentage. Every bit of their offensive production will be on display against the Rockies Tanner Gordon as he has struggled with avoiding contact in his minimal appearances so far this season. Gordon takes the mound with an ERA of 6.15, a FIP of 5.34, and 32 Hits Against in five games played.
On the other side of the field, the Rockies offense has quietly made contact at a high rate for a team who possesses one of the worst records in the league. Entering Wednesday’s contest against the Diamondbacks, the Rockies rank above league average in Team Total Hits. The issue for Colorado is that their Hits are far and few inbetween as they also rank below league average in RBIs and Total Runs Scored.
Fortunately for Colorado, their offense will get the benefit of swinging against the Diamondbacks Jordan Montgomery who has severely underwhelmed in his efforts of limiting opposing offensive production. Opposing batters have had no issue with making contact and getting into scoring position against the Diamondbacks pitcher as he comes into the contest with an ERA of 6.37, a WHIP of 1.680, 108 Hits Against, and 59 Earned Runs Allowed.

After cashing the YRFI in the previous matchup between the Washington Nationals and Baltimore Orioles, we go back to the well for Wednesday’s contest as another pair of struggling pitchers are set to take the mound. The Orioles trotting out another underwhelming pitcher is especially inviting to wager against as it gives the Nationals surging offense an opportunity to play at a more competitive level.
Against the Orioles Dean Kremer, expect the Nationals league average marks in Team Total Hits and On Base Percentage to graciously tick up as Kremer has struggled with keeping opposing runners off the bases and out of scoring position. Even with a back end that ranks sixth in Defensive Efficiency, the Orioles have struggled to mask his low level of play as Kremer takes the mound with an ERA of 4.70 and a FIP of 4.92.
As for the Orioles, it should be business as usual for the current AL East leaders as their offense ranks very well across the board in Team Total Hits, RBIs, Total Runs Scored, and On Base Percentage. Especially when they are set to face off against the Nationals DJ Herz as he has equally struggled with keeping opposing runners out of scoring position as his WHIP of 1.347 indicates. His defense also does him no favors as the Nationals rank 29th overall in Defensive Efficiency.
