The New York Yankees look to bounce back against the Boston Red Sox as they get the opportunity to tee off against the struggling Brayan Bello. Before that takes place, we target the AL Central divisional matchup between the Detroit Tigers and Minnesota Twins as both offenses are in a position to succeed against a pair of unproductive arms on the mound.

It was a forgettable Subway Series for the Yankees, dropping both games to the New York Mets in embarrassing fashion. Fortunately for them, the Baltimore Orioles equally struggled in their series against the Miami Marlins and the gap between the two teams for first place in the AL East standings remains razor thin. That leaves the door open for the Bronx Bombers to close in on Baltimore’s lead, yet they will need their offense to round back into form in order to do so.
Against the Boston Red Sox, the Yankees will have the opportunity to do just that as they are set to face off against the underwhelming Brayan Bello. Bello has mightily struggled with keeping opposing runners out of scoring position and escaping out of dangerous scenarios, taking the mound with an ERA of 5.27, a WHIP of 1.443, a FIP of 4.51, 34 Batters Walked, 104 Hits Against, and 56 Earned Runs Allowed.
His inability to avoid contact bodes well for the Yankees offense as they enter the back half of the season ranked well above league average in Team Total Hits, RBIs, Total Runs Scored, and On Base Percentage. A brunt of their production stems from their elite top of the order as Juan Soto continues to excel at extending pitch counts and getting on base at a high rate while Aaron Judge leads the league in Home Runs.
As for the Red Sox, their offense has been equally as impressive as the Yankees by mirroring their marks in the same previously mentioned offensive metrics. They will have the opportunity to match the Yankees offensive production from the opening pitch, facing off against Nestor Cortes whose aggressive nature leaves him exposed against productive contact hitting units. Cortes takes the mound with an ERA of 3.99, a WHIP of 1.161, and 115 Hits Against.

After getting off to a sluggish start to the year and crashing down to near dead last in the AL Central standings, the Minnesota Twins offense has come to life and have propelled them up to five games back from first. During that stretch, the Detroit Tigers have gone from near the top of the board to comfortably in fourth place and out of wildcard contention.
A major reason for the Tigers downfall stems from their lack of offensive production as they rank below league average in Team Total Hits, RBIs, Total Runs Scored, and On Base Percentage. Should they want to turn their year around and make a push for the playoffs, then they will need to take advantage of the regressing Pablo Lopez. Lopez has struggled with avoiding contact as he enters the contest with 104 Hits Against, a WHIP of 1.153, and ERA of 4.86.
As for the Twins, their red hot offense is in a position to continue to succeed against the Tigers Keider Montero as he has underwhelmed in his six appearances so far this season. With a high opposing Contact Rate and WHIP of 1.389, expect the Twins offense to succeed from the opening pitch as they enter the contest ranked above league average in the same previously mentioned offensive metrics.
