Monday’s slate may feature a small quantity of games, but two YRFIs still stick out worthy of a wager. We start our day targeting an AL Central matchup between the Cleveland Guardians and Detroit Tigers as both pitchers have mightily struggled in their minimal appearances so far this season. We then turn our sights towards the Minnesota Twins and Chicago White Sox as both offenses are poised to succeed from the opening pitch.

While the Cleveland Guardians continue to pad their lead at the top of the AL Central division standings, it’s been a year to forget for the Detroit Tigers as they continue to underperform in their 2024 campaign. Outside of their pitching staff that continues to dominate with current AL Cy Young betting favorite Tarik Skubal leading the charge, they severely struggle in every other area of the field.
Especially on the offensive end, ranking near the bottom of the board in Team Total Hits, RBIs, Total Runs Scored, and On Base Percentage over the full course of the season. A shockingly low level of play for a youth-filled offense that started to build some momentum at the end of their 2023 season, entering 2024 poised to take the next step with their production with more experience under their belt.
While that has yet to be the case this year, the Tigers top of their order is in a good position as any to start building some momentum against the Guardians Gavin Williams who has grossly underperformed in his first start to his season. While one game is tough to put too much stock into, Williams initial outing makes him an instant fade until he shows otherwise. Williams takes the mound with an ERA of 11.25 and a WHIP of 2.250.
As for the Guardians, their offense has been a steady source of production with their elite ability to get on base and in scoring position even while ranking below league average in Total Hits. Expect an uptick in contact ability as the Tigers Keider Montero has mightily struggled in his three appearances so far this season. Montero enters the contest with an ERA of 6.60, a WHIP of 1.400, a FIP of 6.04, 16 Hits Allowed, and 11 Earned Runs Against.

Speaking of struggling offenses, the Chicago White Sox have been absolutely abysmal as they continue to rank bottom three in Team Total Hits, RBIs, Total Runs Scored, and On Base Percentage. Offensive production has been practically non-existent, failing to field any sort of competitive unit and a major reason why they have the worst record in the league.
Even with one of the worst offensive units in the league, the White Sox will be presented an opportunity to open the scoring early against the Twins Chris Paddack who has played as one of the worst starting pitchers in the league. Paddack comes into the contest with an ERA of 5.29, a WHIP of 1.430, a FIP of 4.27, 18 Batters Walked, an astonishing 94 Hits Allowed, and 46 Earned Runs Against in 15 total games played.
As for the Twins, their offense has been one of the hottest units in the league as they continue to string together a hot stretch of play. This has thrusted them up the AL Central standings, now within a punchers range for first. Expect their offense to continue to succeed against the White Sox Chris Flexen as his struggles nearly mirror Chris Paddack by taking the mound with an ERA of 5.08 and a WHIP of 1.388.
