Thursday’s slate may be limited on its number of games, but there are still a pair of YRFIs that are worth a wager. We start the day continuing to back the elite top of the Astros batting order as they face off against the Mariners AL Cy Young contender Logan Gilbert. We then turn our sights towards the Detroit Tigers and Boston Red Sox as both units are poised for success against two underwhelming pitchers. For more information about the YRFI market and what factors make them worth a wager, take a look at our breakdown of what are YRFI bets.

Thursday’s slate of YRFIs kicks off with a divisional showdown between the Houston Astros and Seattle Mariners as the Astros look to continue their climb back up the AL West standings. The Seattle Mariners are currently in sole possession of first place, yet are witnessing their lead slowly diminish as the Astros continue to get back on track after a horrific start to their season.
Once ranked dead last in the AL West, the Astros have managed to string together an impressive few weeks of play off the backs of their offense and have climbed back up to third. Their elite offense has made them a consistent target to back for our daily YRFI series as the top of their order can rival the best of them. With Jose Altuve, surging MVP contender Kyle Tucker, and Yordan Alvarez, the Astros are in a position to start any game off with an early run.
Every bit of their offensive production will be needed against the Mariners Logan Gilbert as he remains in contention for the Cy Young award. Gilbert comes into the contest with an ERA of 3.06, a WHIP of 0.962, 66 Total Strikeouts, 49 Hits Allowed, and 24 Earned Runs Against. The Astros are certainly able to contend, ranking above league average in Team Total Hits, Runs Scored, RBIs, and On Base Percentage.
As for the Mariners offense, they have fared far worse than their defense and continue to hold them back from taking a more commanding lead in the division standings. Ranked near dead last across the board in offensive metrics, the Mariners now get the chance to round back into form against the Astros Spencer Arrighetti. Arghetti takes the mound with an ERA of 6.93 and a WHIP of 1.779.
Bet on Over 0.5 Run (-106) at FanDuel
While it’s well documented that the Houston Astros offense have been one of the better units in the league, the Boston Red Sox have quietly trail right behind them. They enter the contest ranked above league average in Team Total Hits, RBIs, Runs Scored, and On Base Percentage. As for the Tigers, it’s been an abysmal start to the year as they rank on the opposite side of the board in the previously mentioned offensive metrics.
Fortunately for the Tigers, they get the opportunity to build some momentum against the aggressive Nick Pivetta. They are fresh off of a 10 Hit performance against the Pirates Jared Jones and now face off against Pivetta who comes into the contest with an ERA of 4.20, a WHIP of 1.067, and 33 Strikeouts in 30.0 Innings Pitched. His tendency to attack the box leaves him prone to getting beat, giving the Tigers higher quality chances to make contact and get into scoring position.
As for the Red Sox white hot offense, they are presented with an opportunity to continue their high level of play against the Tigers struggling Kenta Maeda. Unlike Pivetta, Maeda struggles to punch opposing batters out as he has just 24 Total Strikeouts in 8 games played. Along with his ERA of 5.80 and WHIP of 1.318, the Red Sox offense should have little issue opening up the scoring early in the contest.
