Friday’s slate of games may be massive, but there are only a handful of YRFIs worth a wager as an abundance of high-level pitchers are set to take the field. Two YRFIs still stick out above the rest with the Houston Astros high powered offense set to tee off against the Oakland Athletics while the Cleveland Guardians look to pad their lead in their division standings against the shockingly productive Angels offense. For more information about the YRFI market and what factors make them worth a wager, take a look at our breakdown of what are YRFI bets.
As for where to wager on YRFIs, FanDuel sportsbook has been the pioneer for the market as they routinely put out lines before everyone else and at very favorable odds when compared to the rest of the mobile sportsbooks. If you have not signed up yet with the FanDuel sportsbook and are looking to get in on the action, you can claim $150 in bonus bets by simply creating an account and winning your first bet of at least $5 wagered. Be sure to wager the $5 on a heavy favorite immediately after creating an account, maximizing your chances of winning and collecting the $150 in bonus bets.

When looking to make a wager on the YRFI market, it’s normally wise to avoid former Cy Young award winners. Luckily for us, Justin Verlander is long gone from his prime and is more vulnerable than ever to getting scored on early. Verlander is still putting together a productive season for the Houston Astros, but his current metrics show that he is experiencing some slight regression with a current WHIP of 1.206.
Better yet, defense has been a massive issue for the Astros and a big reason for their early season struggles. The Astros defense ranks in the bottom five in Team Total ERA and bottom ten in Defensive Efficiency. An oddity for a team that was once labeled as a World Series contender heading into the season. The Astros have struggled to generate any sort of consistency this early in the season and are currently 22-28 while third in the AL West standings.
Luckily for the Astros, as well as our YRFI, they possess one of the best offenses in the league. Captained by an elite top of the order that features Jose Altuve, surging MVP candidate Kyle Tucker, and the always dangerous Yordan Alvarez, the Astros offense comes into the contest ranked well above league average in Team Total Hits, RBIs, Total Runs Scored, and On Base Percentage.
Every bit of their offensive production will be in a position to excel once again as the Athletics Ross Stripling has severely struggled so far this season. Heading into this contest, Stripling possesses an ERA of 5.19, a WHIP of 1.558, an astonishing 69 Hits Allowed, and 30 Earned Runs Against in 10 games played. His defense will do him no favors either as they rank bottom five in Defensive Efficiency.

Minutes before our first YRFI kicks off, our other one gets underway when the Cleveland Guardians battle it out against the Los Angeles Angels. The Cleveland Guardians have a narrow lead for first place in the AL Central standings, now getting the opportunity to build some momentum and pad their lead against one of our favorite fade targets in Patrick Sandoval.
Sandoval has been a popular fade target for our daily YRFI series as opposing offenses have had no issue with getting runners in scoring position against the struggling pitcher. Sandoval comes into the contest with an ERA of 4.59 and a WHIP of 1.471. The Guardians offense is more than capable of taking advantage of his inability to keep runners off the bases, ranking above league average in On Base Percentage, RBIs, and Total Runs Scored.
As for the Angels, their offense has shockingly remained somewhat competitive even after the unfortunate injury to Mike Trout. Heading into the contest, the Angels rank above league average in Team Total Hits and Total Runs Scored. They will have a chance to continue to succeed against the Guardians Logan Allen as he comes into the matchup with an ERA of 4.91, a WHIP of 1.442, 16 Batters Walked, 58 Hits Allowed, and 28 Earned Runs Against in 10 games played.
