Monday’s slate of MLB games brings plenty of productive pitching duels, yet two still prove to have valuable YRFIs as a crop of exploitable pitchers are set to face off against elite batting units. Yoshinobu Yamamoto makes another appearance in our daily YRFI series as his own aggressiveness may come back to bite him against a Diamondbacks squad that excels at getting on base. For more information about the YRFI market and what factors make them worth a wager, take a look at our breakdown of what are YRFI bets.
As for where to wager on YRFIs, FanDuel Sportsbook has been the front runner for the market as they routinely put out lines before everyone else and at very favorable odds when compared to the rest of the mobile sportsbooks. If you have not signed up yet and are looking to get in on the action, you can claim $150 in bonus bets by simply signing up and winning your first bet of at least $5 wagered. It’s been a rough stretch for the Atlanta Braves, a team that was largely thought of as the closest contender to dethroning the Los Angeles Dodgers for the World Series title. After getting off to a hot start, the Braves offense has severely underwhelmed and now rank below average in Team Total Hits, Runs Scored, and RBIs. This lack of offensive production has resulted in the Braves placing second in the NL East standings and 4.5 games back from the leading Philadelphia Phillies.
Fortunately for the Braves, positive regression looms large as they still rank near top of the league in On Base Percentage. A swing positively back towards the mean is inevitable for a lineup that features reigning MVP and Ronald Acuna Jr, elite contact batter Ozzie Albies, and sluggers Marcell Ozuna and Matt Olson at the top of their order.
To make matters better for the Braves, their matchup against the Padres Randy Vasquez is as good an opportunity as ever to round back into form as he has struggled throughout his 2024 campaign. Vasquez comes into the contest with an ERA of 6.32, a WHIP of 1.787, just 11 Total Strikeouts, four Batters Walked, 24 Hits Allowed, and 11 Earned Runs Against in four games played.
As for the Padres, they have surpassed preseason expectations with their offense and have only managed to get better since the acquisition of contending league leading hits leader Luis Arraez. Already ranked well above average in Team Total Hits, Runs Scored, RBIs, and On Base Percentage, the Padres are more than capable of finding success against the Braves Chris Sale who comes into the contest with an ERA of 2.54 and a WHIP of 0.886.

Our next YRFI focuses on the NL West battle between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Los Angeles Dodgers. While the Braves were expected to be the closest rival to the Dodgers in terms of contending for the World Series, the Diamondbacks came into the year projected to be the biggest threat to dethrone the Dodgers for the NL West title. Like the Braves, the Diamondbacks as a whole has underwhelmed as well.
One area of the team that has not underwhelmed for the Diamondbacks has been their offense as they rank above average across the board in Team Total Hits, Runs Scored, RBIs, and On Base Percentage. Every but of that offensive production will be needed against the Dodgers Yoshinobu Yamamoto who has seemingly rounded back into Cy Young form after struggling to start out his MLB career. Since Yamamoto underwhelmed in his first outing, he now has an ERA of 3.21 and a WHIP of 1.028.
As for a unit that has not underwhelmed, the Dodgers offense has expectedly paced the league and looked every bit of a potential World Series champion. They have ranked near the top of the board across all offensive metrics with Mookie Betts as the favorite to win the MVP and Shohei Ohtani leading the league in total hits. They now face off against the Diamondbacks Slade Cecconi who has struggled to minimize opposing scoring, possessing an ERA of 5.27 and a WHIP of 0.988.
