After cashing the Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Guardians YRFI on Monday with the first pitch of the game, we go back to the well on Tuesday as both teams trot out two underwhelming pitchers. Shortly after that game gets underway, we focus on the revamped San Diego Padres offense as they look to continue their hot stretch against the Cubs. For more information about the YRFI market and what factors make them worth a wager, take a look at our breakdown of what are YRFI bets.

As mentioned earlier, it was as easy as it gets as we cashed the YRFI in the Tigers and Guardians matchup on Monday with the first pitch of the game. Riley Greene smashed a home run, looking to spark a Tigers offense that has severely underwhelmed at this point of the season compared to their preseason expectations.
The issue is his home run was the only score of the game for the Tigers. They once again showed their inability to generate any sort of offense as they rank well below average in Total Team Hits, On Base Percentage, and Runs Scored.
They now have a good opportunity to start building some momentum in a tight AL Central race as they face off against the division leader Cleveland Guardians' underwhelming pitcher Logan Allen in game two of their series. Allen is a struggling young pitcher who has yet to find his groove at this point of the season, showing an inability to control his command with a high Opposing Walk and Contact Rate.
Allen rolls into this matchup with an ERA of 5.11, a WHIP of 1.405, 31 Total Strikeouts, an astonishing 40 Hits Allowed, 12 Batters Walked, and 21 Earned Runs Against in seven games played. His high Opposing Contact Rate spells doom against a Tigers offense that is poised to positively regress back toward the mean, especially after stranding over 20 runners on base in their previous matchup.
As for the Tigers, they trot out Kenta Maeda who has been a popular fade target in this daily YRFI series due to his inability to punch opposing batters out. With just 22 Total Strikeouts and a WHIP of 1.221 in six games played, Maeda relies too heavily on his defense to come through as opposing batters consistently make contact. This opens the door for the Guardians offense to continue to make contact, a unit that ranks above average in Team Total Hits.

Even though the San Diego Padres offense already ranked near league best in Total Team Hits, RBIs, and Runs Scored, they felt a need to get even more dangerous with the acquisition of star contact hitter Luis Arraez. This bolsters the top of their order even more, slotting Arraez at the top of the order in an attempt to get a runner on base with the likes of Fernando Tatis Jr trailing behind him.
This puts ample pressure on opposing pitchers, especially if Arraez gets on base with an all-star hitter coming after him. The Cubs' Ben Brown already struggles with his command, now having to pitch even more aggressively against a tighter batters box. This spells potential disaster against struggling pitchers with Brown going into the matchup with an ERA of 4.23 and a WHIP of 1.265.
Luckily for the Cubs, they go against the Padres Joe Musgrove who has had a nightmare start to his 2024 campaign. Musgrove has struggled to keep opposing batters off the bases, possessing a WHIP of 1.512. That means opposing offenses have had little issue getting a runner into scoring position on second base, being one more single away from scoring a run.
