While there is still plenty of season left to be played, it’s heavily projected that we are on a crash course for the Braves and Dodgers to meet in the postseason. Both teams field explosive offenses and elite depth from top to bottom of their batting order and now get to face off against each other's starting quality pitcher who has struggled so far in 2024. For more information about the YRFI market and what factors make them worth a wager, take a look at our YRFI bets breakdown.

Friday’s main event pits two teams with World Series winning potential as the Atlanta Braves take on the Los Angeles Dodgers in a matchup that will feature plenty of offense and two struggling pitchers. Both offenses rank well above average in total hits, on-base percentage, RBIs, and runs scored, and now get to continue to pad their stats against two starting-caliber pitchers who have yet to find their footing.
Starting with the Braves, they trot out Charlie Morton who was expected to take on a larger workload once Spencer Strider went down with an injury. A massive blow for their defense as he was a heavy preseason favorite to win the Cy Young award, and Morton has done them no favors with his slow start to the season. Going into this highly anticipated matchup, Morton has an ERA of 3.60, a WHIP of 1.133, 23 hits allowed, 11 batters walked, and 12 earned runs against in just five games played.
While not bad, it’s still not elite for what the Braves need out of him as a quality starting pitcher. Especially when facing off against the Dodgers as he kicks off the game against the likes of MVP front runner Mookie Betts, Shohei Ohtani, Freddie Freeman, and Will Smith who all possess an elite blend of power and contact ability and are near the top of the board in total hits for the season.
As for the Dodgers, they go a little deeper into their rotation with Gavin Stone set to take the mound against the Braves' explosive offense. Stone has struggled to keep runners off the bases as he possesses a high WHIP of 1.440, indicating that nearly two batters make it on base per inning against him. That spells potential doom against the Braves elite top of their order, giving them a high chance for success in terms of getting into scoring position early in the contest.

Before Friday’s main event, we get to fade our favorite YRFI target as Patrick Corbin takes the mound against the Toronto Blue Jays. Corbin has continued to steadily decline throughout the year, stringing together consistent underwhelming pitches due to his lack of command and tendency to throw across the middle.
Going into this matchup against the Blue Jays top-heavy batting order, Corbin possesses an ERA of 6.82, a WHIP of 1.895, 22 strikeouts, a shockingly high 47 hits allowed, 13 batters walked, and 24 earned runs against in six games played. With his inability to punch opposing batters out, Corbin will be ripped for the picking against the likes of elite contact batters Bo Bichette and Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
As for the Nationals, early offensive success may be tough to come by as they face the Blue Jays Yusei Kikuchi who has had a far more successful start to his season than his previously mentioned counterpart. With an ERA of 2.94 and a WHIP of 1.158, pressure mounts on the shoulders of CJ Abrams as he can force Kikuchi to get more aggressive should he get on base early. With a tighter pitcher's box against a more aggressive Kikuchi, this opens the door for a higher quality chance of making contact and bringing in a run to cash this YRFI.
