The Dodgers may have pulled the rug out on us after switching out their starting pitcher, but the YRFI still cashed after they managed to bring in an early run. Wednesday’s crop of best bets has more certainty with who the pitchers will be, fading some respectable names who have gotten off to an underwhelming start. For more information about the YRFI market and what factors play into making them valuable, you can read it here.
As for where to wager on YRFIs, the FanDuel sportsbook has been one of the better sportsbooks for the market. FanDuel routinely puts out lines for the market before everyone else as well as at very favorable odds when compared to the rest of the mobile sportsbooks. For those of you who have not signed up yet with the FanDuel sportsbook, they are giving away $150 in bonus bets for simply signing up and making an initial bet of at least $5 wagered. Be sure to lay the $5 on a heavy favorite after signing up, maximizing your chances of winning and securing the $150 in bonus bets.

By taking a YRFI in the New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays matchup, as are involving a pitcher who has put up Cy Young award winning numbers and another player who was once thought of as a Cy Young award contender. Don’t let that previous statement fool you, this game has the makings for plenty of runs to be scored with regression looming over the defense.
Starting with the Blue Jays, they trot out Kevin Gausman who has been having a horrific start to a season. Gausman entered the year as a potential Cy Young award contender, now drastically falling down the board after a few severely underwhelming starts. In just three games played, Gausman has an ERA of 11.57, a WHIP of 1.929, 10 strikeouts, 16 hits allowed, two batters walked, and 12 earned runs against.
His starts have been limited, only lasting 9.1 innings as he deals with a plethora of issues. He was withheld for a majority of spring training while dealing with shoulder soreness, now playing as if his injury is more severe. That has limited his ability to extend innings, as well as ruin his ball control. That spells potential disaster against the Yankees who have Juan Soto and Aaron Judge batting at the top of their lineup.
As for the Yankees, they bring out emerging elite talent Marcus Stroman who has been carving out a role as a reliable ace pitcher in Gerrit Cole’s absence. In his three games played so far this season, Stroman has an ERA of 2.12, a WHIP of 1.059, 17 strikeouts, 11 hits allowed, seven batters walked, and four earned runs against.
While those marks may seem elite, they are a sharp contrast from his lengthy career average. Other than his four game season in 2015, Stroman’s current ERA is his career best 11 seasons into the league. That indicates potential negative regression is looming, especially since opposing offenses are averaging slightly over one batter on base. Expect the Blue Jays to bring him back down to reality with the dangerous trio of George Springer, Vladimir Guerrero Jr, and Bo Bichette at the top of their order.

Shortly before the Yankees and Blue Jays first pitch, a mega matchup between two high powered offenses get things started with the Atlanta Braves set to face off against the Houston Astros. Better yet, both teams are trotting out two regressing pitchers against two lethal top heavy batting orders who are looking to open up the scoring early.
Starting with the Braves, it’s safe to say Max Fried has had an underwhelming start to his season as he is throwing at a disastrously low rate with an ERA of 8.74 and a WHIP of 1.853. He now faces off against one of the best contact hitting lineups in the league, putting his dangerously high WHIP in serious danger of plummeting even farther.
As for the Astros, they trot out J.P France who has been just as equally as awful as he possesses an ERA of 8.22, a WHIP of 1.891, 22 hits against, seven batters walked, and 14 earned runs against. Like the Astros, the Braves top of their order are as equally as dangerous as former MVP Ronald Acuna Jr kicks things off with Michael Harris, Austin Riley, and Matt Olson following suit.
