After a small Thursday slate, Friday brings back an abundance of games for us to groom through and more YRFIs for us to wager on. The Colorado Rockies and Toronto Blue Jays bring intrigue with a clearly injured Kevin Gausman taking the mound while the Texas Rangers and Houston Astros ALCS rematch will feature two high-powered batting lineups. For a more detailed explanation of YRFIs and what to look for when making a wager on them, you can read it here.
As for where to wager on YRFIs, the FanDuel sportsbook has been the pioneer for the market so far this season. FanDuel routinely puts out lines before anyone else and at very favorable odds in comparison to the rest of the market. For those who have not signed up yet with the FanDuel sportsbook, you can receive $150 in bonus bets for simply signing up and placing your first $5 wager.

Question marks have surrounded Kevin Gausman since the start of the preseason, withholding for a majority of March while dealing with an injury. The Blue Jays did eventually reveal that it was just a shoulder soreness and put him in for one game at the end of spring training. Gausman finished his lone outing with a ERA of 3.00, a WHIP of 1.000, seven strikeouts, and just one earned run against.
While that normally indicates Gausman is good to go and in a position to make a run for the Cy Young award, his regular season production has fallen off a cliff. In his two games played since the start of the regular season, Gausman has an ERA of 9.53, a WHIP of 1.412, six hits allowed, two batters walked, and six earned runs against.
Worse yet for Blue Jays fans, Gausman has looked noticeably less than 100% with his preseason injury creeping back up. Something is clearly wrong, only lasting 5.2 innings pitched in his two games played. The Blue Jays still say it’s just a soreness, but his lack of command and regressing VELO suggests otherwise. With Gausman not 100%, this gives a lackluster Rockies batting lineup a great chance to take advantage of the potentially injured pitcher and secure a run early in the contest.
Speaking of the Rockies, they trot out Ryan Felter who has had a modest start to his 2024 campaign. So far this season Felter has an ERA of 3.27, a WHIP of 1.000, seven hits allowed, four batters walked, and four earned runs against. Those are improved metrics from his spring training results, finishing March with an ERA of 4.02 and a WHIP of 1.340.
Feltner’s current marks are quite a leap from his career average, indicating that negative regression may be looming. Especially against a very dangerous top of the Blue Jays batting lineup, one that features George Springer, Vladimir Guerrero Jr, and Bo Bichette. All three elite contact hitters in their own right, and a group that can bring Feltner back down to reality in a hurry.

We finish our night targeting a YRFI in a 2023 ALCS rematch between the Texas Rangers and Houston Astros as they run deep into their pitching lineup with two underwhelming wagers. With a slightly juiced over, oddsmakers are expecting this one to start off with early inning fireworks and runs up on the board.
Especially if the Astros JP France continues to struggle with his command as opposing batters have connected 14 times against him already. To go along with his 14 hits allowed, France also has an ERA of 4.76, a WHIP of 1.500, three batters walked, and six earned runs against in two games played.
The Rangers Dane Dunning has not fared much better since the calendar turned to 2024, currently possessing an ERA of 4.15, a WHIP of 1.077, seven hits allowed, seven batters walked, and six earned runs against. With both Dunning and France struggling with their command, they both may be in for a world of hurt against two elite batting lineups. Both the Astros and Rangers rank top-6 in total hits, putting themselves in a favorable position to score with runners on base.
