Best NRFI Bets Today September 26

There are just days remaining in the 2023 Major League Baseball regular season. That means just a few days remaining to take advantage of the NRFI betting markets across the league for all 30 teams. On Tuesday, we have a 16-game slate and have highlighted the top first inning total wagers across those 16 games right here.

Chicago Cubs vs Atlanta Braves - Justin Steele (L) vs Bryce Elder (R)

Our first NRFI wager for Tuesday’s MLB action comes from Atlanta, in the game between the Chicago Cubs and Atlanta Braves. In that game, two excellent starting pitchers will take the mound, as Justin Steele and Bryce Elder will do the honors for their respective teams. Because of that, look for this game to be scoreless as the second inning of play rolls around.

Steele enters the final week of the regular season as one of the only pitchers in baseball who still has a chance at the NL Cy Young award. While his odds to win the award over Blake Snell are slim at this stage, Steele has a 3.00 ERA which is one of the best in baseball. Look for him to deliver early in this game to give his team a chance at a much-needed win over the Braves on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Bryce Elder enters this contest for Atlanta with a record of 12-4 and a 3.63 ERA on the season. While he does not have quite the same dominant numbers as Steele for the year, Elder will not need to be quite as good against a Cubs team with an inferior offense to that of the Braves. Expect both starters to be lights out for the first inning of play, and for this game to be exciting throughout.

New York Yankees vs Toronto Blue Jays - Michael King (R) vs Kevin Gausman (R)

Over 0.5 (+110 at PointsBet)

In the American League East matchup between the New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays, look for at least one run to be scored in the first inning of play. The Yankees have nothing left to play for at this point, after being eliminated from postseason contention. But the Blue Jays are still fighting for a spot in the postseason, and we should see both offenses come out swinging early in this one.

While the Blue Jays are sending Kevin Gausman to the mound for this game, the Yankees' current situation could offset the dominant Gausman on the mound. With nothing left to play for, look for the Yankees to be aggressive from the start of this game and to take their cuts with hitters like Aaron Judge. That could mean more early scoring than usual for New York.

Meanwhile, the Blue Jays have the potential to jump all over Yankees starter Michael King in this contest. King has had a strange season, going 4-7 but posting a 2.66 ERA along the way. But he faces a Blue Jays team here that is barely holding onto a Wild Card spot coming down the stretch, and the Jays will be looking to get on the board early to relieve some tension in this series opener.

Houston Astros vs Seattle Mariners - Cristian Javier (R) vs George Kirby (R)

Under 0.5 (-115 at DraftKings Sportsbook)

The last of our MLB NRFI bets for Tuesday comes in the huge AL West matchup between the Houston Astros and Seattle Mariners. It is very possible that only one of these teams will be going to the postseason this year. Look for the high-intensity nature of this game to result in a low-scoring start to the game, including a first inning that will not feature any runs scored.

It does not hurt the NRFI bet for this game that there are two very good starting pitchers taking the mound in this contest. Cristian Javier and George Kirby are pitching for their respective teams in this game, which should mean a hard time scoring for both sides in the opening innings. With these teams separated by just a game and a half for the final Wild Card spot in the American League, we could also see a conservative approach from two teams not wanting to waste outs.
