With both the New York Yankees and Cleveland Guardians excelling on defense, every run scored in the ALCS feels monumental as each unit looks to inch one step closer to making it to the World Series. Heading into Friday, another pair of productive pitchers are set to take the mound in an attempt to neutralize each other's offensive production in what should be a thrilling game four of the series.
For more information about the NRFI market and what factors into them being worth a wager, check out our breakdown of Daily No Run First Inning.
When looking to make a wager on a NRFI, it’s important to create an account with as many sportsbooks as you can in order to line shop the volatile market. Each sportsbook has their own unique signup bonus, giving new users a head start to their bankroll to wager with during the MLB playoffs.
FanDuel Sportsbook, for example, is giving new users $300 in bonus bets after creating an account and winning their first bet of at least $5 wagered. Be sure to wager the $5 on a heavy favorite or alt line immediately after signing up, maximizing your chances of winning and collecting the $300 in bonus bets.
With each game bringing a higher sense of urgency the deeper we get into the series, the New York Yankees will be relying on the arm of potential AL Rookie of the Year award winner Luis Gil to help minimize the Guardians offensive production. When Gil is in full control of his command, he has been dominant in his efforts of keeping opposing runners off the bases and out of scoring position as he takes the mound with a WHIP of 1.193 and ERA of 3.50.
Even if Gil struggles with his command as we have seen at various points this season, he gets the benefit of throwing against an offense who has mightily regressed in the second half of the season. Entering game four of the ALCS, the Guardians offense ranks below league average in Team Total Hits, RBIs, Total Runs Scored, and On Base Percentage. It also helps that Gil receives much needed support from his back end as the Yankees defense ranks in the top half of the board in Defensive Efficiency.
On the other side of the field, Gavin Williams is set to take the mound with the daunting task of having to throw against the Yankees star studded duo of Juan Soto and potential AL MVP Aaron Judge who both possess an elite blend of power and contact ability. With their production kicking things off, the Yankees offense has been one of the best units in the league this year as they rank well above league average in Team Total Hits, RBIs, Total Runs Scored, and On Base Percentage.
Fortunately for Cleveland, Williams has shown he can neutralize opposing offenses with his own individual production as he takes the mound averaging less than one Hit Against per Inning Pitched while generating a FIP of 1.368. While his high WHIP does bring some cause for concern, Williams gets the benefit of being surrounded by one of the best defenses in the league as the Guardians rank third overall in Defensive Efficiency.
