After conceding game two to the Kansas City Royals, the New York Yankees are in desperate need of winning game three or else they will be on the brink of elimination while on the road. Unfortunately for the Bronx Bombers, generating consistent offensive production will be tough to come by as they are set to face off against the Royals AL Cy Young contender Seth Lugo.
For more information about the NRFI market and what factors into them being worth a wager, check out our breakdown of Daily No Run First Inning.
When looking to make a wager on a NRFI, it’s vital to acquire as many sportsbooks as you can get in order to line shop the volatile market. Each sportsbook has their unique signup bonus, giving new users a head start to their bankroll to wager with.
FanDuel Sportsbook, for example, is giving new users $300 in bonus bets after creating an account and winning their first bet of at least $5 wagered. Be sure to wager the $5 on a heavy favorite or alt line immediately after creating an account, maximizing your chances of winning and collecting the $300 in bonus bets.
After falling flat on their faces in a game two loss to the Kansas City Royals, the New York Yankees are in desperate need of recapturing the same success they had on offense earlier in the year in order to avoid going down 1-2 while on the road. This was a unit that used to terrorize opposing pitchers on a nightly basis with their elite power and contact ability, ranking near the top of the board in Team Total Hits, RBIs, Total Runs Scored, and On Base Percentage over the full course of the season.
The issue for the Yankees heading into game three is that they are set to face off against the Royals Seth Lugo who has spent a majority of the year in contention for the AL Cy Young award. Lugo has excelled at avoiding contact while keeping opposing runners off the bases this season, averaging less than one Hit Against per Inning Pitched while generating a WHIP of 1.089 and FIP of 3.25.
His elite individual production is especially vital in this contest as the Royals defense as a whole has regressed down to 17th overall in Defensive Efficiency. With AL MVP betting favorite Aaron Judge and Juan Soto kicking things off in the top of the Yankees order, Lugo will need to continue to be in full control of his command in order for the Royals to avoid going down on the scoreboard early.
As for who will be pitching for the Yankees, they are set to trot out Clarke Schmidt in an attempt to neutralize the Royals surging offense. While Schmidt has not had the same success as Lugo in terms of keeping opposing runners off the bases, he has managed to halt opposing scoring production by taking the mound with an ERA of 2.85 and FIP of 3.58. Schmidt is also surrounded by a productive back end as the Yankees defense ranks above league average in Defensive Efficiency.
