We have a pair of fantastic NRFI bets on the board for today. The first comes from an AL Central battle between the Detroit Tigers and Chicago White Sox. The other is from two NL teams looking to make the playoffs as the New York Mets meet the San Deigo Padres.
Below, we will share the bets we love from both games, sharing odds taken from FanDuel Sportsbook. If you are new and looking to try FanDuel, use our custom link to earn $200 in Bonus Bets when you place an initial wager of $5+.

The first half of this bet is a no-brainer with Tarik Skubal on the mound. The 2024 AL Cy Young favorite has been incredible all season and especially great over his last three starts. He allowed just four runs over 19 innings in that time, and the Tigers won all three games.
Skubal is in for a big day against an awful Chicago lineup. They have scored the fewest runs in baseball, trailing the next-closest team by a whopping 73 runs. The team has been terrible in the first inning, failing to score a run in over 80% of games this season. Skubal shut the White Sox out back in March and will do so again tonight.
The other half of this bet is risky on paper, but we have confidence it will hit. That is because rookie Ky Bush (0-2, 3.68 ERA, 1.84 WHIP) will be making the start tonight. The 24-year-old has been solid across three starts and managed to hold the Astros to just one run over six innings his last time out.
Bush’s last start will give him momentum tonight as he faces an easier test in the Tigers. Detroit has been efficient in the first inning of games, but they will see Chicago’s promising prospect for the first time tonight. Bush may not get the win, but it will take at least an inning for the Tigers to adjust.

Michael King (11-6, 3.18 ERA, 1.17 WHIP) and David Peterson (7-1, 3.00 ERA, 1.36 WHIP) may not be household names, but they have been among the best pitchers in baseball this season. Both will feature great lineups tonight, but we expect them to dominate the first inning.
The Mets will have Peterson starting tonight as he looks to stay hot. He has a 1.85 ERA across four starts, including an impressive outing against the Orioles. That outing and his recent hot streak are two big reasons why we give him the edge in the first inning of tonight’s game.
The Padres will have King starting opposite Peterson tonight. The 29-year-old has been fantastic since May and has allowed just two runs over his last two starts (12 innings). While he will see the Mets for the first time this season, they are batting .200 against him over his career.
As impressive as New York’s lineup is, that hasn’t led to first-inning success. They are going scoreless in over 76% of their games, putting them in the bottom ten of the league.
