When selecting a NRFI bet, it’s important to choose a matchup featuring dominant starting pitchers. We have selected two games that fit this criteria on Tuesday.
Our first NRFI bet is in the Pittsburgh vs. St. Louis game. Paul Skenes and Miles Mikolas are two elite major league arms.
Our second NRFI features Max Fried against undefeated Albert Suarez in the Braves and Orioles game.

Pittsburgh takes on St. Louis in a NL Central divisional matchup. This is a very important series for both clubs as only a half of a game is separating these two teams in the standings. The Pirates are 31-34 in last place. The Cardinals are 31-33 tied with Cincinnati and Chicago for second place.
Outside of the Brewers, the rest of the NL Central shares similar records as they are all looking to gain a few games to keep them in postseason contention.
The Pirates are starting Paul Skenes who is 3-0 with a 3.00 ERA. He has recorded 38 strikeouts in 27 innings. Skenes has a WHIP of 1.00 and has allowed six runs in his last 17 innings.
Skenes has been dominating hitters with his 100-miles-per-hour fastball and has done a fantastic job of mixing up speeds. The strikeout ability of Skenes is what intrigues us in this matchup for our NRFI bet.
The Cardinals are going with Miles Mikolas who is 4-6 with a 5.32 ERA. He has struck out 53 batters in 71 innings to go with his 1.28 WHIP.
The numbers are not as impressive for Mikolas in 2024, but as of late he has been very good. In his last three starts he has gone 18 innings allowing eight runs with only three walks.
Mikolas has never been a pitcher who surrenders walks, which is why we love him for a NRFI wager. As a team, the Cardinals are 18th in team batting average at .235. The Pirates rank 23rd hitting .231 as a club.
With both offenses struggling and the dominant pitchers on the mound, we expect Skenes and Mikolas to go deep into this game and limit runs.

Atlanta takes on Baltimore in a matchup featuring Max Fried and Albert Suarez. The Braves are 35-28 trailing only the Phillies in the NL East. The Orioles are 42-22 trailing the Yankees by 2.5 games in the AL East.
Fried takes the mound with 6-2 record and an ERA of 2.93. He has 67 strikeouts in 73.2 innings in 2024.
In his last three starts he has gone 24 innings only allowing three earned runs on three hits. Fried has struck out 28 batters over this stretch.
Suarez is 2-0 with a 1.83 ERA to go with a 1.02 WHIP. He has 33 strikeouts in 39.1 innings. In his last start he went five innings allowing two earned runs.
Although Fried has a lot more innings than Suarez, both pitchers are capable of performing well in big games.
Baltimore ranks 8th in the league in team batting average at .248. Atlanta is 13th, hitting .244 as a team.
Usually we try to stay away from two strong offensive teams when selecting our NRFI bets, but this is a great pitching matchup and we expect the wings to shine.
