The Braves travel to Boston to take on the Red Sox on Tuesday. Atlanta is 33-24 trailing the Phillies by 6.5 games in the NL East. 

Boston is 30-30 and in third place in the AL East. This is a very important series for both teams to close the gap in the standings before it's too late. 

The Braves are starting Max Fried who is 5-2 with a 2.97 ERA in 2024. He has struck out 54 batters in 66.2 innings. 

Fried is coming off his two best starts of the year going a combined 17 innings. He only allowed one run against Washington and Chicago. 

A big part of Fried’s success this season is his ability to pitch to contact and limit the walks. He has only walked 21 batters.

The Red Sox are going with Kutter Crawford who is 2-4 with a 3.29 ERA. He has struck out 66 batters in 68.1 innings. 

Crawford has a WHIP of 1.19 and is looking to get back in the win column after two rough starts. 

Crawford started the season very well but has run into a couple of rough starts in the last two weeks. We expect him to get back on track and have a clean first inning.

Seattle is taking on Oakland with George Kirby going to the mound. The Mariners are 34-27 in first place in the AL West. The Athletics are 24-37 trailing Seattle by ten games.

The Mariners are going with George Kirby who is 4-5 with a 4.08 ERA. He has struck out 65 batters in 68.1 innings. In Kirby’s last start he went six innings and only allowed one run. 

The Athletics are starting Mitch Spence who is 4-2 with a 3.52 ERA. He has 34 strikeouts in 38.1 innings. 

Spence has been very good in his last three starts, throwing 13 innings only allowing three runs on 11 hits. 

Both of these offenses rank at the bottom of the league in team batting average. Seattle is 29th in baseball at .222 and Oakland is 27th at .223. 

With the offensive struggles from both of these teams and the great pitching matchup, the NRFI has a lot of value. 

Expect Kirby and Spence to have a great first inning and limit runs in this matchup. This game is the lowest total of the day and for a good reason.
