We have a pair of fantastic NRFI bets for you today. The first comes from a matchup between disappointing teams in the Diamondbacks and Mets. The second comes from an incredible pitcher’s dual as the Cardinals visit the AL East-leading Phillies.
We will share why we are betting on NRFI for both of these games. We’ll use odds from FanDuel Sportsbook, which offers new players a welcome bonus of $150 in Bonus Bets when they sign up and make an initial winning wager of $5+.

This is our favorite NRFI bet of the day, and it's really not even close. The matchup features two bad teams struggling to generate offense in 2024. While the Diamondbacks rank tenth in the league in runs scored, they have not scored more than three runs since May 22. The Mets arguably have the better lineup, but they rank twentieth in runs scored and twenty-second in batting average. We expect both lineups to be quiet today, especially in the first innings against a pair of good starting pitchers.
The D-backs will have one of their top pitching prospects on the mound in Blake Walston. The 22-year-old has made just two appearances but has looked fantastic in both. He made his first big league start last Sunday, holding the Marlins scoreless over 4 ⅔ innings. While this may be another short start, we expect him to cruise through the first inning as a lost Mets’ lineup struggled to figure the young lefty out.
New York will have Sean Manaea making the start today. The veteran has been a silver lining during a disappointing season for the Mets. He has been consistently good all season and has allowed a first-inning run to score just once, in his third start of the season. Given Arizona’s recent offensive struggles, we expect him to produce another clear first inning this afternoon.
Both the Cardinals and Phillies have been swinging the bat as well as anyone of late, but they will run into a brick wall today. Both teams will have a great pitcher on the mound, and the result will be an easy cover of this NRFI bet.
The Cardinals will have Sonny Gray (7-2, 2.60 ERA) making the start tonight. The 34-year-old was great in Minnesota the last two seasons, and he has carried that momentum into St. Louis this season. He has allowed a first-inning run to score just once across nine starts, making him one of the better NRFI bets in the league. Considering he shut out the Phillies over five innings in his first start of the season, we think he has no problem delivering a clean first frame tonight.
The Phillies will turn to Ranger Suarez (9-1, 1.75 ERA, 0.82 WHIP) on the mound against the Cards. The lefty has been one of the top pitchers in baseball and has a nine-game winning streak broken in his last start. That rough outing came in the unfriendly confines of Coors Field and when Suarez was struggling to deliver strikes. We expect him to bounce back in a big way at home tonight, helping us cover this NRFI bet.
