Despite the NBA and NHL playoffs progressing, the MLB is going strong with series and regular season games still in the first full month of the season. There is still great betting value within these early season games as all 30 teams are still looking to establish their identity.
There have been some drastic changes in how teams bat and account for runs early in games. There is also a huge difference in how a team starts and how they finish in games. One team in particular is the Cincinnati Reds, who do not start games fast but end them well. One of the best bets to be played in NRFI bet is the matchup between the Reds hosts in the Philadelphia Phillies and the third of the fourth game of the series.
Another game to watch out for is the NL West divisional matchup between the Texas Rangers and the Seattle Mariners. One team is looking hot and rebounding while another is having to overcome multiple losses after a stellar start to the season. Both teams have certainly been impacted and their early game scoring.

This Wednesday night will continue one of the best series of the week as the Philadelphia Phillies (15-9) play game three of four at the Cincinnati Reds (13-10). The Phillies dominated game one on Monday with a 7-0 score with the Phillies scoring consistently from the second to fifth inning. The Reds were able to rebound big with an 8-1 win on the following night. Both teams scored in the first inning.
One of the most interesting bets to make in this game is the NRFI bet between these two teams. The Reds possess a talented and reliable offense with young stars, but the team ranks 25th in the league in runs accounted for in the first inning (0.32). The Phillies are ranked second in accounted for in the first inning (1.00). On the road, however, the Phillies are averaging 0.29 runs in the first inning, the ninth worst in the league.
The pitching matchup is set to potentially bring a low-scoring game. The Phillies are set to start Spencer Turnbull, who has accounted for a season ERA of 1.23. He has been fantastic in the four games played and started for the Phillies as he has only allowed four runs in two games. He has only allowed one run in the first inning in the 4-3 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The Reds are set to start left-handed pitcher Nick Lodolo, who has accumulated a season ERA of 0.75 in two games played. He has allowed only one run throughout the entire season.
This game should be one of the most likely games to be low-scoring of the night.

One of the final games of the night is set for a big AL West Divisional matchup between the Seattle Mariners (12-11) at the Texas Rangers (12-12). After a rough start to the season, the Mariners have been on fire winning six of their last seven games. The Rangers, on the other hand, had a solid opening week of the season by accounting for a 6-2 record. They have since accounted for a 6-10 record.
The Mariners started the series on Tuesday night with a 4-0 win over the Mariners. Seattle, who has not been a great scoring team this season, scored two runs in the first inning and two more in the third.
The Rangers are ranked fourth in the league in runs accounted for in the first inning (0.75), but they have struggled significantly in the last few weeks. The Mariners are ranked 28th in the league in runs accounted for in the first inning (0.30), third worst in the league.
The pitching matchup in this game will be significant with both teams starting their efficient pitchers. Texas will start Jon Gray, who has accounted for a season ERA of 3.15 in the five games played and started. After giving up three runs in the first inning of the 9-5 loss to the Chicago Cubs on March 31, Gray hasn’t given up a run in the first inning all season.
Seattle will start Bryce Miller, who has accounted for a season ERA of 1.85 in the four games played. Like Gray, Miller has gotten better as the season has progressed, but he hasn’t given up a run in the first inning this season yet.
