Best NRFI Bets Today: Milwaukee Brewers vs. Pittsburgh Pirates (6:40 PM EST)

One of the most underrated games to get into a new week is the matchup between NL conference title contenders the Milwaukee Brewers and the Pittsburgh Pirates. Both Milwaukee and Pittsburgh are not among the most elite offenses in the league. What they do possess is a great defense and pitching unit. This would be the area that will help make the NRFI a bet to watch out for.

There is some caution going into this game and this series with the NRFI Bet. The Pirates ranked 28th in the league in runs accounted for in the NRFI (0.27). The Brewers, on the other hand, rank 6th in the league in runs account for in the first inning (0.70). They have certainly been a much more efficient team at the slate this season compared to last year.

The Pirates are going to be ready for the potential to slow down the new and improved offense of the Brewers this Monday, with Jared Jones as the starting pitcher. In four games played this season, Jones has an era of 3.13 and has not allowed any runs through the first inning. He has allowed eight total runs this season against talented offenses including the Philadelphia Phillies.

It shouldn't take much for pitchers to hold down the pirates early in the game. That being said, the Brewers feel confident in Joe Ross starting at the mound on Monday. In three games played this season, Ross has an era of 4.91 but has been outstanding early in the games. And the two games he is allowed runs, Ross has not allowed to run until the 4th inning.

Look for this game to be a great opportunity to win this bet at a great value while still watching two solid NL teams and their early season progression.
