One of the easiest bets of the day regarding no runs being accounted for in the first inning is the matchup between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Oakland Athletics. This game will be the final game of the series as the Cardinals will have a chance to sweep the Athletics. This series has already been low scoring as both games haven’t eclipsed six total runs.
It is not like either Oakland or St. Louis is one of the most efficient offensive teams in the league to start with no run early anyway both the Cardinals and the Athletics are ranked 20th in the league and run counter four in the first inning (0.41).
The first game of the series was the only game where a run was scored in the first inning due to bad pitching performance from Oakland’s Ross Stripling. There should be a much better set of pitching matchups in this game.
The Cardinals will be starting Steven Matz at the mound against the Athletics. Matz has accounted for a season ERA of 1.80 in three games played, including good performances against the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Athletics will be starting Paul Blackburn who has not been allowed to run in any of the three games and 19.1 innings pitched against the Washington Nationals, Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Guardians.
Look for this game to be an efficient matchup defensively for both teams with no runs accounted for the first several innings.

Later in Wednesday’s busy and they'll be sleeping is the third and final matchup between the Cincinnati Reds at the Seattle Mariners. This is a series that has been a surprise for both teams. Cincinnati, who is a legitimate NL Central divisional contender, is on the verge of getting swept by the Mariners.
Both Seattle and Cincinnati were among the worst teams in the league to account for runs in the first inning. And the first game of the series on Monday, Seattle scored three runs in the first inning in a shocking fashion.
This trend is not likely to continue going into game three. This was evident for a no-run scored in the first inning in Tuesday's matchup.
Left-handed picture Andrew Abbot will be starting at the mound for the Reds today. He has accounted for a season ERA of 2.60 with only six runs in three games played.
The Mariners will be starting one of their more reliable starting pitchers and Byrce Miller. He has accounted for a season ERA of 1.96 in three games played. Miller has only allowed five runs in those three games with none of them coming in the first innings.
This game has the real potential to be incredibly low scoring through the first couple innings.
