Best NRFI Bets Today: Guardians vs. Mariners (9:40 PM, EST)

1st Inning Under 0.5 Runs (-142) at FanDuel

The Guardians and Mariners aren’t too high on the World Series futures market board. However, they have elite pitching talent that will help them win games in 2024. 

Seattle was expected to be an offensive juggernaut, but they had a very slow start to the year. Their best players didn’t step up in their initial series against the Red Sox, and hopefully, this will continue against the Guardians. 

Seattle batted just .178 against a Red Sox team known for its lack of elite pitching. They only scored ten runs in the season's first four games, and three came in extra innings. 

In their opening series, the Guardians offense delivered against the Athletics, but Oakland is closer to a minor league lineup. Cleveland isn’t a tremendous offensive team, and they never have been in recent years. 

Cleveland, which returns many of the same players in 2024, was 27th in runs scored last season. They came up short against the best pitchers. 

Luis Castillo, who had a rough start to the year, is historically one of the most dominant arms in the league. He has 1161 strikeouts in 1059.2 innings over his career. 

Shane Bieber will take the ball for the Guardians. He was fantastic to start the season against the Athletics. He didn’t allow a run in six innings and fanned 11 batters. Bieber was awesome and has consistently pitched like this in his career.

Best NRFI Bets Today: Rockies vs. Cubs (7:40 PM, EST)

1st Inning Under 0.5 Runs (-146) at FanDuel

The wind is blowing in at Wrigley Field, and this is perfect for an NRFI bet. The NRFI hit in the series' first game on Monday between the Rockies and Cubs. We anticipate a second straight NRFI because of the weather and the pitching matchup. 

Kyle Freeland was horrendous in his first start of the season. He allowed 10 hits in 2.1 innings, so he will be excited to get back on the mound and right the wrongs. 

If the wind were blowing out, we would be fading Freeland, but the wind blowing in gives us confidence he can deliver against a Cubs offense that hasn’t been great to open the 2024 campaign. 

Javier Assad will make his first season start, and he was very good last season. The pitcher had a 3.05 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP in his age-25 season. Assad isn’t an overpowering pitcher, but he is an excellent locator, which will challenge Colorado. 

The Rockies didn’t score a run and had just three hits in the series' first game. They haven’t found an offensive rhythm, which should be a positive for the NRFI on Tuesday. 

The seven-run total shows how hard the wind will be bowling in, even with a below-average pitcher in Freeland on the hill.
