My Pick – Josiah Gray Prop To Account for Over 3.5 strikeouts (-135 at DraftKings)

The Washington Nationals (65-81) and the Pittsburgh Pirates (68-78) are set to conclude a four-game series on Thursday. The Pirates have claimed two of the wins already, one more will claim a 3-1 series win. Washington looks to tie the series 2-2 and will rely on its pitching to complete the job.

The Nationals will have their best starting pitcher Josiah Gray (4.13 ERA in 141.2 innings pitched) pitching against the Pirates. He has delivered 122 strikeouts this season, which is the second-most on the team behind Mackenzie Gore, currently on IL, who has thrown 151 strikeouts.

The Pirates are ranked 11th in the NL in strikeouts encountered (1284). They are a team that has struggled significantly at the plate this season. Gray could have one of his better late-season performances this season with a solid pitching performance against Pittsburgh.

The Cincinnati Reds (76-71) are looking to finish the three-game series sweep over the Detroit Tigers (66-79) on Thursday. This game might be the last push the Reds can make in order to create one more significant NL playoff push. 

The Tigers have had a tough pitching performance this season. They are ranked 10th in the NL in ERA (4.39), seventh in hits allowed (1203), 10th in runs allowed (686), and 11th in strikeouts delivered (1213). Reese Olson (4.50 ERA in 86 innings pitched) will be the starting pitcher for the Tigers on Thursday. 

The Reds started the 2023 MLB Season in rough shape, but have gotten better as the season has progressed. Cincinnati ranks fifth in runs accounted for (696), ninth in hits accounted for (1234), eighth in home runs accounted for (169), first in stolen bases (169), seven in walks (500), ninth in batting average (.248), sixth in on-base percentage (.326), seventh in slugging percentage (.412) and sixth in OPS (.738).

The last game of the night features the beginning of a four-game matchup between the San Francisco Giants (75-71) and the Colorado Rockies (53-92) in Coors Field. The Giants are attempting a serious NL Playoff push while the Rockies try to play spoiler for the remaining teams they play. 

The Giants' pitching team will be key as they attempt to suppress the Rockies' poor batting team. Colorado ranks 10th in the NL in runs accounted for (640), 10th in hits accounted for (1216), 13th in home runs accounted for (142),  14th in stolen bases (60), 13th in walks (399), 15th in strikeouts encountered (1372), ninth in batting average (.248) and 15th in on-base percentage (.309).

The Giants are going with their ace pitcher Logan Webb (3.40 ERA in 193 innings pitched) to start the series against the Rockies. He has delivered 177 strikeouts this season. This game will be the perfect opportunity for Webb to cover the odds for a solid bet and more.
