I have decided to only do pitcher props today. Our first prop of the day will come from the Arizona Diamondbacks vs Pittsburgh Pirates game. The Diamondbacks are on the road but have the edge in this matchup. Arizona is getting hot as Pittsburgh is cooling down, so they should walk away with this victory. Zac Gallen will be the subject of this prop. Gallen is having a tremendous start to the year and is in Cy Young contention. He will finish this game with seven or more strikeouts. Bet on the over.
Gallen comes into this game with a 6-1 record, a 2.35 ERA, and a 0.85 WHIP. The 27-year-old had an excellent season last year but is playing even better this year. Gallen is averaging 7.78 strikeouts per game. He is not topping any lists, but he knows how to make hitters swing and miss with two strikes. The righty has seen a little dip in his strikeouts this month but had two 11-K performances in April. I expect him to have eight or nine strikeouts today and easily hit the over.
Our second prop bet of the day will take us to Arlington, Texas. The Rangers were not expected to be anything special this year but have proved the experts wrong. They have a comfortable lead in the AL West and are the fifth-best team in baseball. Martin Perez will be the subject of this prop. Perez has struggled a bit this season but will return to form today and record the win.
Perez gave up four earned runs in his last start and seven in his start before that. These were uncharacteristically poor performances for the Venezuelan lefty. He will not have a perfect outing today, but he will only allow two or three runs. Luckily for Perez, he has a lineup averaging over six runs a game, so he will receive plenty of run support on the way to the victory.
We are on to our final prop bet of the day. This prop will come from an interesting game. The Cubs and Phillies have nearly the same record and are both on losing streaks, so this should be an interesting matchup. We will look at Marcus Stroman for this prop. Stroman has a losing record but has been pitching quite well. The 32-year-old will throw six innings today. Bet on the over.
Stroman was averaging nearly 5.9 innings a start before last week. He then proceeded to throw a measly 2⅔ innings against the Minnesota Twins on Sunday. I would not worry too much, though. That was probably just an off day. Almost every other day, you can depend on Stroman to give you six innings. For example, in his last five starts, he has thrown six innings twice and 6⅓ innings once. The veteran knows how to pitch deep into games and has done so in most of his starts this season. That will continue today, and Stroman will throw six reliable innings. Bet on the over.
