Luis Castillo has been phenomenal this season. The pitcher is 2-1 with a 2.7 ERA and a 0.99 WHIP. In 46.2 innings on the mound, he has recorded 52 strikeouts, and he can fool batters in multiple ways. His strikeout total is listed at 4.5 against the Red Sox for Tuesday night. This line is juiced at -165, but it’s a steal, even against a quality lineup like the Red Sox.
Castillo has gone over this number in four of his past five starts. He is coming off a nine-strikeout performance in five innings of work. The thing to be concerned about with Castillo is his pitch count. He occasionally gets into trouble, affecting the number of innings he spends on the mound. A typical start for the pitcher has been five innings as of late, but he can still go over his strikeout total if he is on the mound this long tonight.
Patrick Wisdom has been a consistent hitter for the Cubs this season, batting .242 with 12 homers. His 12 homers is third best in MLB, and he ranks 14th in OPS at .931. Wisdom’s total bases number is listed at 0.5, and it’s low because he isn’t the best average hitter. At .242, it can be a pick’em whether he gets on base or not in every contest.
However, Wisdom has been hot at the plate in his past five games. He has recorded at least one hit in four of the five contests and has a double and a home run. Cristian Javier will throw for the Astros, and this will be a tough matchup for the power hitter. Although, for the plus money with how Wisdom has been hitting, it’s worth the risk.
Jarred Kelenic has one of the best stories of the MLB season thus far. Kelenic couldn’t hit the ball to save his life when he was called up last season, but this narrative has completely changed. At just 23 years old, Kelenic is batting .291 with eight homers and a .893 OPS. The OPS ranks him 24th in Major League Baseball.
Kelenic is coming off a 2 for 5-night at Fenway Park with an RBI and three runs scored. We like him to stay hot at the plate against Nick Pivetta, who struggles at home. The pitcher has a 6.23 ERA and a 1.5 WHIP. Over 34.2 innings, he has allowed eight homers as well, so there will be opportunities for Kelenic to shine at the dish. If Kelenic has one double, he hits this +120 bet in a single swing of the bat.
Dansby Swanson has been the perfect signing for the Cubs at shortstop this season. He doesn’t do anything spectacular at the plate, but he constantly delivers for his team. His total base prop is listed at over 0.5 for -150, which is a fair price on DraftKings Sportsbook. He has gone over 0.5 total bases in three of his past five games, and he has three doubles in this stretch. The shortstop is coming off of a 2 for 4 performance against a quality Astros pitching staff.
Swanson needs to be selective against a pitcher like Javier tonight. Although, we like him to stay hot at the plate and cash this total base bet on DraftKings Sportsbook.
