This is our favorite long shot of the weekend, as there are a lot of signs pointing to a Torres home run today. The first is his recent play, as he has a seven-game hitting streak coming into today's game. Torres also has two home runs in his last four games, bumping his total on the season up to six. Both long balls came in Yankee Stadium, where these two teams will be meeting today. Considering his odds, we will happily ride his hot bat this weekend.
Another reason we love this bet is Torres’ history against Rays’ starter Shane McClanahan (7-0, 1.76). The young Rays' starter has been incredible in 2023, but Torres owns a .429 career average against him over 14 at-bats. That includes three extra-base hits, one of which was a home run. This shows that Torres sees McClanahan well, regardless of how sharp the Rays starter has been. That will continue to be the case tonight.
McClanahan has been great, but he has given up some home runs over his last few starts. While he was able to keep the ball in the park against the Orioles in his last start, he allowed four in the three games before that. That, combined with Torres’ hot bat and history against McClanahan, have us riding with this longshot prop bet today.

This is the prop bet we have the most confidence in this weekend. Jays’ veteran starter Jose Berrios (3-3, 4.91 ERA) hasn’t had a great start to the season, but he has been much better lately. He has allowed two or fewer runs in four of his last five games. He struck out over 5.5 batters in three of those starts and has done so four times this season. He has some experience against this Braves lineup, though it has been limited. Berrios has some nasty stuff that is hard to hit, especially when you don’t see him every season. We expect that to be a factor that helps lead him to at least six strikeouts.
Another benefit that Berrios has is his ability to go deep into games. He has gone into the seventh inning in three of his last four games, thanks to his ability to limit baserunners. The Braves will challenge that, but we still expect him to have a shot to go a full seven innings yet again.
While we like Berrios, the Braves' offense is another reason we are taking this bet. While they have been great this season, they have also been striking out a lot ad have the tenth most in the league (336). That total was added to last night when they struck out eight times against the Blue Jays last night. They may score some runs but expect plenty of swinging strikes against Berrios today.

These are some fantastic odds for one of the league's hottest hitters. After a slow start, he has found his bat and is becoming a solid hitter that is now in the middle of this Washington lineup. He has multi-hit performances in three of his last five games, though he managed just one last night. Meneses has followed up his last two one-hit games with a multi-hit game, and we see that trend continuing tonight.
At 31 years old, his ceiling is fairly low, but his ability to get on base has people noticing him in his second MLB season. He is now hitting cleanup in this weak Washington lineup, meaning he should see plenty of at-bats going forward. Meneses wasn’t as hot the last time they played the Mets, but he got a hit in all three games, one of which he totaled three hits.
Another reason we love this bet is because of the play of Joey Lucchesi (1-0, 4.43 ERA). The Mets starter has been bad this season, with just one quality start in four appearances. Walks have been a big problem, but so have hits. That was the case when he started against the Nationals earlier this season, where he gave up a hit to Meneses. Even if Lucchesi bounces back, he won’t be able to last deep into the game, giving Meneses a couple of at-bats against the Mets bullpen.
