Our first MLB prop bet for Friday is for Gerrit Cole to record the win in the game between the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees. Cole gives the Yankees a massive pitching advantage in this contest, and we should see him maintain that advantage for the Yankees for as long as he is in the game. At a plus price to pick up a win in this matchup, Cole is a great value in this prop market.
So far this season, Cole is an impressive 7-2 with a 2.82 ERA to his name going into this rivalry game. While he has pitched well both at home and on the road, he has been better at home by a slight margin. Expect that to continue here, as the Yankees ace should be able to put forth another strong performance at Yankee Stadium against the last-place team in the AL East standings.
Boston, meanwhile, should struggle against Cole as they have struggled on the road for most of this year. The Red Sox are the only team in the AL East with a losing road record on the year, entering this contest at 14-16 on the road for the year. Against one of the best pitchers in baseball, the Red Sox may not put up much of a fight in this contest, which will help Cole get his eighth win.
Next on the board for MLB prop bets on Friday will be the over on the team total for the Pittsburgh Pirates against the New York Mets. Pittsburgh is starting to slide out of contention in the NL Central race, as they are having trouble keeping up with the Milwaukee Brewers. But they should be able to take advantage of the bullpen situation for the Mets going into this Friday night matchup.
Last night, the Mets only got three innings of work out of Justin Verlander before he had to depart their game against the Atlanta Braves. That, combined with the bullpen demands of a 13-10 loss in 10 innings, has put a massive strain on the bullpen of New York. That strain on their bullpen will be a huge problem in this game against the Pirates, who should be able to score five or more runs as a result.
Pittsburgh’s offense will also come into this game with a sense of urgency after a shockingly bad stretch in their last series against the Oakland Athletics. Pittsburgh lost the last two games of that series despite being heavy favorites, scoring just seven runs across the last two games of that series. Here, the Pirates will break out offensively against a compromised Mets pitching staff.

Finally, we look to Chicago for the final MLB prop bet on our Friday card. There, we like Dylan Cease to strike out at least six members of the Miami Marlins, as the White Sox starter has been pitching well as of late. Look for Cease to take advantage of another less than stellar offensive opponent, as he has done in each of his last two starts.
Cease has struck out at least six batters in each of his last two starts, with both of those starts coming against the Detroit Tigers. Here, he faces another offense that is near the bottom of the league in runs scored for the season. That will help Cease’s strikeout numbers to be high once again, even if the Marlins have a hitter in Luis Arraez who does not strike out much at the top of their lineup.
