The following odds are from DraftKings, where the MLB Prop Bets can be made.
Thursday’s impressive slate of games in the MLB starts with the Pittsburgh Pirates (37-43) hosting the San Diego Padres (37-42). The Pirates are looking to sweep the Padres to help get them back in a more consistent rhythm.
One player that has been playing at a high level still for the Pirates is designated hitter Andrew McCutchen. Through 67 games this season, McCutchen has accounted for 35 runs, 64 hits, a team-high 47 walks, only 56 strikeouts, a batting average of .278, a team-high on-base percentage of .397, and 100 total bases.
One of the best bets in this matchup is the over mark of 1.5 total bases McCutchen gets this game. With his consistent ability to get on base through hits and walks, he shouldn’t have too much difficulty.
Regarding the Kansas City Royals (22-58), it is usually not smart to bet on their chances to account for something positive. On Thursday, the Royals are set to host their AL Central rival Cleveland Guardians (39-40) in an attempt to avoid the sweep and shed a three-game losing streak.
The Royals are one of the worst batting teams in the AL as they rank 13th in the conference in runs accounted for (296), 11th in hits accounted for (613), 13th in home runs accounted for (73), 14th in walks (211), 10th in batting average (.232), and 13th in on-base percentage (.296).
One of the best-valued bets in this matchup is the under of RBIs for Royals' first baseman Nick Pratto. Through 54 games this season, Pratto has accounted for only 22. He is a hitter that has a hard time getting on base due to his high number of strikeouts (78).
To make matters worse for the Royals and Pratto, the Guardians will be starting their ace pitcher Shane Bieber (3.69 ERA in 100 innings pitched) on Thursday.
This Thursday afternoon is set to be a real treat for MLB fans as the final game of the Tampa Bay Rays (55-28) at the Arizona Diamondbacks (48-33) series will determine the series. This game will be the best matchup of the day for fans to enjoy while there are some real value bets to make in this game. One of those value bets is the potential of first baseman Christian Walker accounting for one hit against the Rays.
Walker is among the best and most experienced hitters for a much-improved and dangerous Diamondbacks team. Walker has accounted for 81 hits this season (third on the team), 16 home runs, a team-high 54 RBIs, and a batting average of .281.
The Rays will start Yonny Chirinos (3.91 ERA in 48.1 innings pitched) at the mound. Chirinos has been solid this season as a part-time starter but has allowed 39 hits, the fifth-most hits this season.
The St. Louis Cardinals (33-46) and the Houston Astros (43-37) are set to finish the series in St. Louis on Thursday with the winner taking the series. The Astros are going into this game as the favorite as they are the better team at the plate and they will have the best pitching matchup between the Astros’ J.P. Frannce (3.54 ERA in 53.1 innings pitched) and the Cardinals’ Adam Wainwright (6.56 ERA in 46.2 innings pitched).
The Cardinals are going to give all they have at the plate to win the series. France is going to be dealing with a Cardinals team ninth in the NL in hits accounted for (666), third in home runs (106), and ninth in batting average (.250).
While France has been solid in his rookie season with the Astros allowing an average of only 5.4 hits per game, there have been games that he let slip. There are four games this season where he allowed seven or more hits. He will get an aggressive performance out of the Cardinals on Thursday night.
This Thursday night might be an excellent opportunity for Colorado Rockies starting pitcher Chase Anderson to earn favors with bettors. As the Rockies go into Thursday’s matchup with the Los Angeles Dodgers, there is not a lot of faith that Anderson will have a good pitching performance against a team that has lost two of the last three games.
Anderson (6.57 ERA in 37 innings pitched) hasn’t allowed many indications that he will have a good performance against one of the best power-hitting teams in the NL. The Dodgers are ranked third in the NL in runs accounted for (414), second in home runs (126), and second in slugging percentage (.443). The Dodgers, however, have struggled at the plate in June as they also rank 12th in hits accounted for (626), ninth in strikeouts encountered (693), and 13th in batting average (.324).
In three of the five games where Anderson has pitched in five innings, he has delivered at-least four strikeouts.
