The following odds are from DraftKings, where the MLB Prop Bets can be made.
The weather is set to factor into the huge NL East matchup between the Atlanta Braves and the Philadelphia Phillies with the second game of the series being pushed to Thursday as a part of a double-header. The Braves are set to go with their current ace pitcher Bryce Elder (2.60 ERA in 83 innings pitched) against a Phillies team that has created a great rhythm at the bat.
The Braves are one of the best pitching teams this season as they rank first in the NL in ERA (3.74), fifth in fewest hits allowed (598), second in fewest runs allowed (297) and second in most strikeouts (692). Elder has delivered 69 strikeouts, the third-most on the team.
While the Phillies are playing better than at the start of the season, they have some ground to make up. The Phillies rank 11th in the NL in strikeouts encountered this season (670). They are also playing in a double-header so they will likely be conserving their energy at the plate for both games.
The Washington Nationals are set to host the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday in a makeup game from June 8th. This will be a quick tune-up before the Diamondbacks and the Nationals play in a new series the following day. The Diamondbacks are looking to finish the sweep over the Nationals after weeks of the series being unfinished.
Diamondbacks catcher Gabriel Moreno is a much-better player in the fielding game than he is at the plate. Out of the top ten batters on the team, Moreno has the third-fewest RBIs accounted for this season at 25. He is more likely to account for less than one RBI than he is to account for on Thursday.
The Nationals are set to go with Jake Irvin (5.25 ERA in 36 innings pitched) as the starting pitcher against the Diamondbacks. Irvin has allowed 36 hits and 24 runs this season, significantly lower than some of the other starting pitchers for Washington.
This Thursday is a solid opportunity for bettors to put their trust in a young, up-and-coming pitcher to limit the worst team in the Major Leagues. The Oakland Athletics (19-57) are a complete disaster and are set to remain that way for the rest of the 2023 MLB Season, perhaps until the team moves to Las Vegas.
The Guardians are looking to sweep the Athletics on Thursday for their first potential sweep of the season. Rookie Logan Allen (3.95 ERA in 54.2 innings pitched) is already one of the better-starting pitchers for the Guardians this season. He is a part of a Guardians team that ranks sixth in the AL in ERA (3.87), seventh in fewest runs allowed this season (307), but last (15th) in strikeouts delivered (563). Allen has delivered 53 strikeouts this season.
There is a great chance that Allen will go over five strikeouts than under as the Athletics are beyond horrible at the plate. Oakland ranks last (15th) in runs accounted for (270), 14th in hits accounted for (560), 14th in strikeouts encountered (710), last in batting average (.222) and last in slugging percentage (.352).
The San Diego Padres might be one of the most disappointing teams in the Major Leagues as they are n o where close to meeting the expectations and the talent on their lineups. The Padres have Manny Machado, Juan Soto and Fernando Tatis Jr., yet rank 11th in runs accounted for (309), 14th in hits accounted for (556), 14th in batting average (.230), 13th in on-base percentage (.319) and 12th in slugging percentage (.394).
Soto has seen more positive than negative moments this season. He has a chance to earn some big earnings for bettors as he is slated at +125 to account for over 1.5 total bases in Thursday’s game against the San Francisco Giants. Soto is second on the team in total bases accounted for (124).
The Giants are going with Alex Wood (4.11 ERA in 35 innings pitched) to start at the mound against the Padres. Wood had allowed 35 hits, 18 runs and 16 walks this season.
The New York Yankees have not been their best with star rightfielder Aaron Judge in the lineup. The Yankees are 11-14 without Judge this season. Their offense has taken a step back as the lack of Judge’s presence has been noticeable as they average only 3.4 runs per game in the last 25 games.
The Yankees are set to finish the series at home versus the Seattle Mariners with a potential sweep on the line for New York. The Mariners are set to start 23-year-old pitcher Byran Woo (7.30 ERA in 12.1 innings pitched) at the mound to conclude the series.
One of the more reliable batters for the Yankees in second baseman Gleyber Torres has a chance to earn bettors big earnings. Despite being second on the team with hits accounted for this season (68), he is slated at -255, the highest of any Yankees player going into Thursday’s matchup.
