The Cincinnati Reds (48-39) are going for the sweep on the road in the four-game series against the Washington Nationals (34-52). The pitching and fielding team of the Reds have done a great job of keeping the Nationals from scoring consistently. In the three games, the Nationals have only scored a total of eight runs.
One of the riskiest bets in this game to make is the under of 0.5 runs for Nationals right-fielder Lane Thomas, who is the Nationals’ leading scorer at 58 runs. In the series against the Reds, Thomas has accounted for five hits, but only one run.
Brandon Williamson (5.56 ERA in 43.2 innings pitched) will get the start for the Reds at the mound. While he has not been perfect for the Reds, he has been getting this past month like the entire team. He may give players like Thomas to get on base, but the Reds are much more efficient in the fielding game now than at the beginning of the season.
The Milwaukee Brewers (46-41) and the Chicago Cubs (40-45) are set to conclude a key four-game divisional series in Milwaukee on Thursday. This game will have a big outcome of the race for the NL Central with the 2023 MLB All-Star Break set to conclude the first half of the 2023 MLB Season.
Cubs’ starting pitcher Marcus Stroman will have a chance to earn some big recognition and help give some earnings to bettors as he takes on a terrible Brewers’ batting team. Stroman will need to be able to deliver five strikeouts against Milwaukee, who ranks 14th in the NL in runs accounted for (365), 15th (last) in hits accounted for (659), 14th in strikeouts encountered (813), 15th in batting average (.230) and 15th in on-base percentage (.309).
In 18 games and 107.2 innings pitched this season, the ace pitcher for the Cubs has allowed 80 hits and 37 runs while delivering 92 strikeouts.
The New York Yankees (48-39) conclude their four-game home series on Thursday night against their AL East Divisional rival in the Baltimore Orioles (50-35). The Yankees have surprisingly taken two of the three games in the series.
The Orioles need a more convincing performance at the plate than the Rangers matchups in this series. Baltimore has averaged 10 hits, 4.3 runs, 4.3 RBIs, 2.7 walks, a .275 batting average, and an on-base percentage of .325, which shows the Orioles have been able to account for hits and get on base, but not finish.
This should give bettors good news on them going for the over on certain batters for Baltimore like centerfielder Cedric Mullins. Through 63 games, Mullins has accounted for 56 hits and a batting average of .245 (fifth on the team). He has accounted for three hits in this series already. One more hit would make him even for the four games played.
One of the top pitching bets of Thursday's game is for a pivotal matchup between the Texas Rangers (51-36) and the Boston Red Sox (44-43). Nathan Eovaldi has been the most reliable starting pitcher for the Rangers this season and has been one of the best in the MLB this season. Bettors who trust him on Thursday could earn some serious earnings.
In 17 starts and 112.1 innings pitched, Eovaldi has accounted for a season ERA of 2.64, delivered 106 strikeouts, allowed only 84 hits, and allowed only 34 runs. There is some risk to Eovaldi as he has more than five strikeouts in a game in nine of the 17 games played and started.
The Red Sox are ranked sixth in the AL in strikeouts encountered throughout the season at 712. While they are more efficient at the plate than most of the other teams in the AL, Eovaldi has done well against a lot of great batting teams.
The Los Angeles Dodgers (48-38) haven’t utilized their usually elite batting form within the past few weeks to the entire month of June. On Thursday, the Dodgers are set to conclude their four-game home series against the Pittsburgh Pirates (40-46). In those three games, the Dodgers have averaged 6.0 runs, 8.7 hits, and 5.7 RBIs, encountered an average of 9.0 strikeouts, a .263 batting average, and an on-base percentage of .348.
Among the best bets to place on Thursday’s conclusion to the series is the over/under of Dodgers right-fielder Mookie Betts at 0.5. Betts has one of the best batters on the team this season. In 83 games, he has accounted for 86 hits (second on the team), a batting average of .268, and an on-base percentage of .372.
Betts has only accounted for two hits this series, all from one game. He is looking to redeem himself in this series, shortly after being named to the 2023 MLB All-Star roster.
