Zach Eflin has not been good in his past few starts. In the month of July, he recorded a 4.85 ERA, which was the highest of any month this season by 1.5 points. However, his decline parallels his team’s mid-summer slide, so it makes sense.
It’s a new month, and the Rays are starting to get back on track. We believe it will be the same for Eflin tonight against the New York Yankees.
Heading into the season, we never believed that pitching against the Yankees was a favorable matchup. New York has power hitters who were highly touted throughout their lineup heading into the year.
The only player who has delivered is Aaron Judge until his injury. The Yankees are one of the worst offenses in baseball, and we don’t believe this will change against the Rays on Tuesday.
New York has scored under three runs in four of their past five games. Eflin hasn’t been going too deep into games lately, but he should have no problem maneuvering this New York offense with how they’ve been playing. Take Eflin to go six innings tonight and the under on his earned run total at 2.5.
Elly De La Cruz would have won the Rookie of the Year award if he entered the league sooner. De La Cruz has done everything right in the show, and his success will be constant over the course of his career. De La Cruz's hits + runs + rbi total is listed at 1.5 on DraftKings tonight with -115 odds.
He will have to go through Justin Steele, which won’t be easy, but we still like Cruz to make an impact. This bet can be hit with an RBI hit or a single with a run, so there are so many combinations for De La Cruz to cash this wager.
Steele has been fantastic this season at 11-3 with a 2.87 ERA and a 1.12 WHIP. However, his expected ERA is 3.36, so he has been lucky at times in 2023. De La Cruz has seven hits in his past five games with four runs, a double, a triple, and a homer. There isn’t anything the rookie can’t do at the dish.
We’ll lean over on his total tonight for a fair price on the road. He has hit .294 as a visitor this season compared to .238 at home.
The Boston Red Sox are on a three-game losing streak, and things haven’t been pretty on the west coast. They lost two games on walk-offs to the San Francisco Giants before getting blown out by the Mariners on Monday.
The Red Sox were one of the best teams in baseball in July, but their problem has been inconsistency. They always tend to fall apart after going hot instead of cooling back down to a .500 team.
Despite this fact, the Red Sox have a great chance to get back on track today with Brayan Bello on the mound. Bello is one of the best pitchers in the entire organization and will be for years to come. His outs recorded total is listed at 17.5, which means he must go six innings for the wager to cash.
Bello has been the king of this bet in the past two months. He was lit up by the Oakland A’s on July 19, but other than that, he has been flawless for this wager. Bello has gone at least six innings in eight of his past nine starts.
Nick Pivetta went 7.1 innings yesterday for Boston, so don’t read too much into the 6-2 win for Seattle. Their offense came alive in the bottom of the eighth. Bello has all the tools to maneuver the Seattle lineup successfully and pick up a win on Tuesday.
