Eugenio Suarez is still putting together quality at-bats for the Mariners at 31 years of age. He is batting .262 with 15 RBI and a .713 OPS. He has come up with the big hit multiple times this season, and it’s a reason to lean on his total base prop for tonight. Suarez only has two bases in his past five games, but he has a great chance to deliver off Bailey Falter of the Phillies.
Philadelphia’s pitcher hasn’t been great to start the season, going 0-3 with a 4.5 ERA. His WHIP is solid at 1.18, but he doesn’t put the opposition in difficult-hitting situations. He has allowed 22 hits in 22 innings, with just 12 strikeouts.
Suarez thrives off pitchers who aren’t overpowering. This gives him a chance to sit back and relax, which leads to hits. Play the over of 0.5 total bases for Suarez on Tuesday night.
The best part of the Tampa Bay Rays is their pitching staff. As great as the offense has been, the wings have closed the door all season on their opponents’ winning dreams. Drew Rasmussen will take the ball for the Rays on Tuesday against the Astros; he has been fantastic this season.
Rasmussen is 3-1 with a 2.01 ERA and a 0.94 WHIP. He has recorded 26 strikeouts over his four starts and surpassed the 5.5 mark in three of four games. Houston has been underperforming this season, and they haven’t start to figure it out just yet.
The Rays embarrassed the Astros in Tampa Bay on Monday, winning 8-3. The Rays have started a new winning streak of their own, winning six straight games. They’re currently 20-3 with the best record in baseball, so we expect Rasmussen to take the hill with a ton of confidence.
Corey Kluber has been one of the worst starting pitchers in baseball. There are talks of him being designated for assignment after just four starts. The likelihood of this happening isn’t high because Boston paid him $10 million for a season, but Kluber hasn’t made them look smart.
Kluber isn’t missing bats, which wasn’t expected because of his velocity. However, he is walking more batters than we’ve seen in the past, and this is surprising as he’s known for control. The pitcher is 0-4 with an 8.5 ERA and a 1.5 WHIP.
He has only gone over four strikeouts once this season and recorded just four against the Orioles on March 30. In his last start, he allowed seven earned runs and two homers in five innings. Kluber isn’t getting the job done, and we can’t trust him against a young club of stars in Baltimore.
Jazz Chisholm Jr. is slated at over 0.5 total bases for -155. This is a deal, even against a team like the Atlanta Braves. Chisholm isn’t off to a hot start, but he has gone over this total twice in his past five games. His strikeout numbers have also gone down over the past five games.
If Chisholm has the chance to get back on track against one Braves pitcher, it’s Charlie Morton. Morton is 2-2 with a 3.22 ERA and a 1.61 WHIP. Over 22.1 innings, he has allowed 26 hits with just 17K and 10 walks.
Chisholm doesn’t need to worry about overpowering speed with Morton or intense breaking balls. This is why we like the young star to surpass his total bases prop tonight.
