Friday is yet another day in which everything points toward pitchers. We have targeted four different pitchers with four different categories, and in three of those instances, we’re backing the pitcher to succeed rather than fail. Just for good measure, we found a way to include one prominent hitter in our prop picks.

Not a lot has gone right for Rodon this season. The lefty is 1-3 with a 5.48 ERA across his first four starts of the season. But the one thing he’s done well is strike people out. He’s notched eight strikeouts in each of his last two starts. Somehow, he’s only allowed seven total hits during those starts, albeit with nine earned runs thanks to a lot of walks.
Rodon also opened the season with seven strikeouts on opening day, so he’s hit this target three times in four starts. With 12 walks in 23 innings overall, he’s been effectively wild, which is why it makes sense to bet on Rodon continuing to amass a lot of strikeouts.

Woo has been outstanding thus far, allowing one run or less in two of his first three starts. That has helped to give him an ERA of 2.84. With just 14 hits and four walks allowed over 19 innings, Woo’s early success looks sustainable. Also, his limited track record against Toronto’s hitters has been good.
The Blue Jays are also having a hard time finding lineup depth, especially with Anthony Santander and Andres Gimenez off to sluggish starts. This bodes well for Woo’s chances of putting together another quality start.
Francis has been solid if unspectacular through his first three starts of the season. One thing he has done consistently is walk batters, issuing at least two walks in all three of his starts. While that’s a little out of character for him, there are no signs that Francis has found his groove yet, so the walks are likely to continue.
Even if the Rays don’t draw a ton of walks, they average over three per game, so they should be patient enough to take advantage of Francis struggling to find the strike zone.

Lindor has gotten off to another slow start this season, although there are signs that he’s starting to get going. He’s in the midst of a five-game hitting streak and has only gone hitless once during April. More importantly, Lindor has a great track record against St. Louis starter Miles Mikolas, whom the Mets face on Friday. Lindor is 7 for 17 (.412) with two doubles against Mikolas in his career. That should make it easy for Lindor to stay hot, especially with Mikolas entering this game with a 9.00 ERA.

In three straight starts, Webb has allowed five hits or fewer, making this a safe bet. Overall, Webb has allowed 20 hits in 24 innings while posting a 2.63 ERA. That makes him a reliable pitcher; even in two starts when he’s completed seven full innings, Webb has allowed five hits or fewer. At the same time, he has an excellent track record against the Angels. The entire Los Angeles roster is batting a combined .169 against Webb, with some key players never facing him before.
Plus, the Angels mustering just seven runs total in their last four games, this is a struggling lineup right now that could have a hard time hitting anything against a pitcher like Webb.
