It’s been nearly five months since we last had a competitive baseball game, but the 2025 MLB season is finally here! Of course, opening day is one of the toughest days of the year for player props because everyone is starting with a fresh slate. Nevertheless, we have managed to target five players for opening day props that we feel confident will get us started on the right track this season.
One of the best places to get MLB prop odds is bet365 Sportsbook, which is where today’s odds are from. New bet365 customers can place a $5 bet and receive $150 worth of bonus bets using the promo code WSN365. At bet365, they also have the option of having a $1,000 safety net on their first wager.

Bellinger will make his Yankees debut on Thursday. There are high hopes for him in the Bronx after batting .423 with an OPS of 1.214 during spring training. While it’s best to take spring stats with a grain of salt, Bellinger is still a good target for opening day. Keep in mind that he has a strong track record against Milwaukee starter Freddy Peralta, going 5 for 12 with two extra-base hits against Peralta.
Even if that’s not a ton of at-bats, Bellinger’s hot spring and the fact that he should benefit from hitting at Yankee Stadium are enough to take plus odds on this bet.

Rutschman owns Toronto starter Jose Berrios. In his career, he’s gone 13 for 22 (.591) with two doubles and four home runs against Berrios. That’s not exactly a small sample size, giving us every reason to believe Rutschman can hit the ground running on opening day with such a favorable matchup.
If it matters, Baltimore’s switch-hitting catcher batted .375 with a 1.033 OPS during spring training, which should only enhance confidence in him. Both a multi-hit game and an extra-base hit are possible, which is why we love this prop bet.
Eflin has always been a pitcher who pitches to contact, so he’ll always be vulnerable to giving up half a dozen hits or more. In his 28 starts last season, he gave up at least six hits 16 times. That includes 10 of his first 13 starts of the season, so his track record early in the year isn’t always great. More importantly, in four starts against the Blue Jays in 2024, Eflin gave up at least six hits in all four starts, including a couple in which he allowed at least nine hits.
The likes of Andres Gimenez, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., and Alejandro Kirk have always knocked him around, so he might have some trouble on opening day.

It’s tough to make a negative prop bet for a player like Perez on opening day. He’s one of the truly great people in baseball and is still a productive hitter after more than a decade as Kansas City’s primary catcher. But he’s also averaged close to 136 strikeouts per season over the last four years. Perez is also 0 for 11 with five strikeouts in his career against Cleveland starter Tanner Bibee.
As much as we respect Perez, his track record against Bibee - combined with 11 strikeouts in just 46 spring training at-bats - makes us think he’ll strike out at least once on opening day.

Vientos and the Mets face a tough matchup on Thursday against Framber Valdez. However, after a breakout 2024 season, Vientos is likely to be someone we target early and often with prop bets this season, especially against left-handed pitchers. New York’s young third baseman hit .300 with an OPS of .884 against southpaws last season. He mashes lefties with virtually no exceptions, even quality pitchers like Valdez.
His confidence heading into the season should be sky-high, especially with a lefty on the mound. That’s enough to make us think that Vientos can get one measly hit on opening day.
