Soto will be licking his chops with the Yankees facing Zach Eflin on Wednesday. He’s 17 for 34 (.500) with six extra-base hits in his career against Eflin. That’s not a small sample size by any stretch; rather, it’s an indication that Soto is a huge threat when facing Eflin. Granted, September hasn’t been Soto’s best month. But he’s still finding a way to be productive, reaching 2+ total bases in four of his last seven games. Given his history against Baltimore’s starting pitcher, he has a great chance to keep that going.

Even with the Red Sox on a hot streak, making one last playoff push, Gausman is prepared to silence them on Wednesday. He’s pitched to a 2.50 ERA in September and is fresh off five hitless innings against the Rangers in his last outing. Since the all-star break, he’s lowered his ERA from 4.50 to 3.91, pitching more like the Gausman the Blue Jays hoped to get all season. We’ll give him the benefit on Wednesday because the Boston lineup can’t stay hot forever.
Duran is one member of the Red Sox who has gotten the better of Gausman in his career. He’s 6 for 16 with five of those six hits going for extra bases. The latter part is key to this bet because Duran has a great chance to collect another extra-base hit against Gausman on Wednesday. Duran has gone over 1.5 total bases in three of his last five games thanks to two multi-hit games and three extra-base hits during that stretch. Given his history against Gausman, he has a good chance to keep things rolling.

With a .313 average in September, Profar continues to be one of San Diego’s best hitters this season. He has an extra-base hit in three consecutive games, which means he’s hit 2+ total bases in three consecutive games. More importantly, he has no problem facing Jack Flaherty, who has been great since being traded to the Dodgers. Profar is 4 for 8 with two home runs and two doubles in his career against Flaherty. While a multi-hit game is on the table, Profar could just as easily reach 2+ total bases with one hit against Flaherty, which is why there is great value to this bet.
With Flaherty looking shaky in his last couple of outings, Cease might be the starting pitcher to watch in this game. He’s thrown 14.1 scoreless innings across his last two starts, allowing just six total hits. When Cease gets on a roll like this, he becomes unhittable, having a stretch of five straight starts allowing three hits or less earlier this season. In September, he’s limited teams to four hits or less in three of his four starts. Even against the Dodgers, we’re banking on Cease to keep it going on Wednesday.
