Best MLB Prop Bets Today 2024 09 05

Once again, Thursday gives us an abbreviated baseball schedule. Upon looking at it, most of the value we found was in not just targeting pitchers but fading hitters. We don’t typically put together a slate like this, but after another winning day on Wednesday, we’re following our instincts.

Thursday’s odds are from bet365 Sportsbook, which is giving new users a choice between a $1,000 safety net on their first wager or receiving $200 in bonus bets for making a $5 wager on their first bet.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Diamondbacks vs. Giants (3:45 PM, EST)

Blake Snell Over 18.5 Outs Recorded (+155) at bet365

This has been an unusual season for Snell, but he’s picked it up lately. Equally important, a lack of starts early in the season means that the Giants can push Snell deep in games late in the year. Snell has recorded at least 19 outs in four of his last six starts, including a complete-game shutout in early August. Last time out, Snell completed seven innings without even reaching 100 pitches. He’s also had a lot of past success against most of Arizona’s hitters, so we’re banking on Snell pitching deep into Thursday’s game.

Christian Walker Under 0.5 Hits (+120) at bet365

Walker is one of the hitters who has consistently struggled against Snell in his career. He’s just 3 for 24 with 15 strikeouts in his career against the Cy Young winner. Walker has also gone hitless in four of his last seven games. He’s not exactly in a groove right now, so he figures to be vulnerable against a quality pitcher, especially given his history against Snell. Therefore, a hitless game from Walker isn’t far-fetched and worth the chance with plus odds.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Phillies vs. Marlins (6:40 PM, EST)

Jake Burger Under 0.5 Hits (+195) at bet365

Burger has been one of the bright spots for Miami this season. But his .247 says that he’s vulnerable to hitless outings, even if he’s been consistent lately. The thing attracting us to this bet is the fact that Burger is 0 for 9 in his career against Philadelphia starter Ranger Suarez. That’s a long enough track record to make us think Burger will have a bad game. His numbers against several Philadelphia relievers aren’t much better, which makes us feel comfortable fading Burger, especially with lucrative odds.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Nationals vs. Pirates (6:40 PM, EST)

Bryan De La Cruz Under 0.5 Hits (+165) at bet365

Washington starter Jake Irvin has only faced two members of the Pittsburgh lineup before. One of those batters is De La Cruz, who is 0 for 10 in his career against Irvin. That’s a long track record of futility, especially for a hitter who’s only batting .236 on the season and just .196 since joining the Pirates. Team-wide confidence for the Pirates is surely low after the team was shut out on Wednesday. De La Cruz is also hitless in his last five games, covering 16 at-bats. Between that and his poor career numbers against Irvin, this is a bet we have to take.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Rockies vs. Braves (7:20 PM, EST)

Reynaldo Lopez Under 1.5 ER (+115) at bet365

Since this game is in Atlanta and not Coors Field, there should be no hesitation in favoring Lopez to have a good game. He allowed exactly one run in all three of his starts in August, doing so twice against the Phillies. Lopez shouldn't have a problem replicating that success against the Rockies. Colorado has just three total runs over the team’s last three games, making it obvious that we should take plus odds on Lopez holding them to one run or less.
