Best MLB Prop Bets Today 2024 08 22

We’ve come a long way since our pitching-dominant set of picks on Monday. For Thursday’s abbreviated schedule, we’ve turned the tables and gone with mostly hitters. That being said, the hitters we’re targeting on Thursday are all well-known players, which adds to our confidence.

The odds for these bets are from Caesars Sportsbook, which is giving new users a bonus bet of up to $1,000 if they lose their first immediately after signing up.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Guardians vs. Yankees (1:05 PM, EST)

Gerrit Cole Over 6.5 Strikeouts (+112) at Caesars

Just in time for the stretch run, Cole is starting to look like a reigning Cy Young Award winner. He’s posted a 1.59 ERA across his three starts in August while becoming a strikeout machine. Two starts ago, Cole registered 10 strikeouts in just 5.1 innings against the Rangers. He’s now reached at least seven strikeouts in five of his last seven starts since the beginning of July. The caveat is that the Guardians are one of the toughest teams in baseball to strike out. But given Cole’s recent performances and the fact that this is a day game, we’ll take the plus odds on him having another high strikeout game.

Jose Ramirez Over 0.5 RBI (+152) at Caesars

Even if Cole gets a lot of strikeouts, it doesn’t mean he’ll be perfect. Getting this much value for a player who ranks second in the big leagues in RBI this year is too good to pass up. Ramirez has been an RBI machine all year and has great career numbers against Cole, going 12 for 33 (.364) with six extra-base hits. The right-field porch at Yankee Stadium makes him a good home run candidate. Ramirez also has Steven Kwan two places in the lineup ahead of him, potentially giving him some RBI opportunities in this game, so there are multiple paths for Ramirez to add to his RBI total.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Brewers vs. Cardinals (2:15 PM, EST)

William Contreras Over 1.5 Total Bases (+104) at Caesars

Somewhat quietly, Contreras is putting together an outstanding season and has been a catalyst for Milwaukee’s success. Over the last two days, he’s gone 5 for 10 with two doubles against the Cardinals. Contreras is also 6 for 12 with a double in his career against St. Louis starter Miles Mikolas. Everything is pointing toward Contreras staying hot on Thursday and doing more damage against Mikolas and the Cardinals.

Nolan Arenado Over 1.5 Total Bases (+143) at Caesars

Despite not having the season he would like, Arenado has started to heat up lately. He went 3 for 5 with a double and a home run on Wednesday, giving him a four-game hitting streak that has included three extra-base hits. Things are clicking for him ahead of a favorable matchup on Thursday against Freddy Peralta. In his career, Arenado is 10 for 31 (.323) with four home runs against Peralta. He should have plenty of confidence to keep hitting and hitting for power on Thursday, making this a good time to take such lucrative odds on Arenado.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Astros vs. Orioles (7:15 PM, EST)

Yordan Alvarez Over 0.5 RBI (+152) at Caesars

Somehow, Alvarez is 2 for 5 in his career against Corbin Burnes with both of those hits being home runs. That makes Alvarez a home run candidate on Thursday, although the RBI prop is still getting decent odds. In addition to his past success against Burnes, Alvarez is 6 for 15 over his last four games and is in a good place despite the Astros scoring just one run on Wednesday. Houston’s lineup is too good to stay quiet for long, even against a pitcher like Burnes, which has us thinking that the Astros will have a good game and Alvarez will be in the middle of it.
