Best MLB Prop Bets Today 2024 08 07

Looking at Wednesday’s MLB schedule, two pitching matchups jumped out at us. Therefore, we decided to focus almost entirely on those four pitchers. We added one hitter prop for good measure but decided to stick with mostly pitchers on Wednesday. The odds for these props are from Caesars Sportsbook, which is offering new users a bonus bet of up to $1,000 if they miss on their first wager after signing up.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Reds vs. Marlins (6:40 PM, EST)

Xavier Edwards Over 1.5 Hits (+190) at Caesars

If you don’t know Edwards yet, the 24-year-old is batting .387 as Miami’s shortstop. While he doesn’t have enough at-bats to qualify for the batting title, he can still get multiple hits on Wednesday and cash a valuable prop bet. He has a hit and a walk in his only two plate appearances against Cincinnati starter Andrew Abbott. The switch-hitting Edwards is also hitting .423 against lefties this season. He’s also had two hits in four of his last five games, so multi-hit games are becoming a regular occurrence for him. With these odds and a favorable matchup, we have to take a chance on this trend continuing.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Red Sox vs. Royals (8:10 PM, EST)

Cole Ragans Over 6.5 Strikeouts (-151) at Caesars

Ragans is fifth in the majors in strikeouts this season, so he’s prone to starts with a large strikeout total. Getting to seven strikeouts shouldn’t be too hard, as Ragans has done it five times in his last eight starts. Keep in mind that the Red Sox have one of the highest strikeout rates in the big leagues. Plus, Ragans struck out seven over seven innings while allowing just one run when he faced Boston earlier this year, so he’s got the jump on the Red Sox lineup.

Kutter Crawford Over 2.5 ER (-151) at Caesars

For the other starter in this game, we’re expecting a poor outing from Crawford. Granted, he threw seven scoreless innings against the Royals last month. But he’s also conceded at least five runs in each of his last three starts. The Kansas City lineup is too good to keep quiet again. After all, the Royals have scored at least five runs in seven of their last nine games. They should have better luck against Crawford this time around, especially since Crawford has fallen into a slump since that first meeting.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Tigers vs. Mariners (9:40 PM, EST)

Tarik Skubal Over 7.5 Strikeouts (-129) at Caesars

Skubal got knocked around in his last start, but he has a chance to get his Cy Young hopes back on track against the Mariners on Wednesday. The lefty ranks third in the big leagues in strikeouts, so he’s another pitcher who is accustomed to a high strikeout total. Skubal is also facing a Seattle lineup that leads the majors in strikeouts. In four of his last five starts, Skubal has reached eight strikeouts, so replicating that against the Mariners shouldn’t be asking too much. Even when he allowed five runs on seven hits against the Royals in his last start, Skubal still reached eight strikeouts, which makes us confident about this pick.

George Kirby Over 18.5 Outs Recorded (+118) at Caesars

Against a meager Detroit lineup, Kirby should have no problem having a good outing and pitching deep into Wednesday’s game. He faced another lackluster team last month when he started against the White Sox and pitched seven full innings. Granted, Kirby has only recorded an out in the seventh inning twice in his last seven innings. But this is a favorable matchup for him and we’re getting good odds, so we’re going to take a shot.
