Wednesday always presents challenges for making prop bets because there are a lot of day games. Our response to that was to target a lot of West Coast teams. Granted, one of those teams has a matinee in Boston, but the rest have later start times. Perhaps that will prove to be the secret to success at the midway point of the week. George Kirby Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-113) at Caesars

If the over/under for Kirby were 6.5 strikeouts, there was a good chance we were going to take it, so Caesars giving us over 5.5 strikeouts with decent odds is a no-brainer. Kirby has reached at least six strikeouts in his last four starts and in six of his last eight starts. In fact, he’s gone as high as seven in four of those eight starts. While the Red Sox are a good offensive team, they have one of the highest strikeout rates in baseball, which gives us plenty of confidence in Kirby.

Rafael Devers Over 1.5 Total Bases (-115) at Caesars

Of course, when Kirby isn’t striking out batters, he’ll have to be worried about Devers. Boston’s best hitter is 5 for 10 with two extra-base hits in his career when facing Kirby. While that sample is still small, it’s a good indicator of success for Devers. Let’s not forget that Devers also has a seven-game hitting streak going. During that streak, eight of his 14 hits have been extra-base hits, which makes this feel like a safe bet.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Dodgers vs. Padres (8:40 PM, EST)

Manny Machado Over 0.5 RBI (+146) at Caesars

Machado has slowly but surely gotten on track after a terrible start to the season. He’s also feeling good after two home runs on Tuesday and three in his last three games. In fact, Machado is 6 for 13 with five RBI in his last three games. He’s also 13 for 40 with five extra-base hits in his career against Clayton Kershaw. Machado is poised to stay hot and either hit a home run or drive in a run some other way. Donovan Solano, who hits in front of Machado most games, is 12 for 30 (.400) against Kershaw, so Machado should have ducks on the pond when he comes to the plate, making this RBI prop worth a try.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Athletics vs. Giants (9:45 PM, EST)

Logan Webb Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-135) at Caesars

We know that Webb isn't exactly a strikeout machine, recording exactly four strikeouts in each of his last three starts. But the calculus changes when you’re facing the A’s, who are among the league leaders in striking out. Keep in mind that from the start of May until his first start in July, Webb reached at least six strikeouts in nine of his 12 starts. When things are going well, he’s more likely to get weak contact than strike batters out. However, most of the Oakland lineup is yet to face him, which should increase his chances of a high strikeout total.

Mike Yastrzemski Over 1.5 Total Bases (+126) at Caesars

Yastrzemski isn’t the most obvious target for this type of prop, but he has a good history against Oakland starter Ross Stripling and has been swinging a hot bat lately. Before going hitless on Tuesday, he had a six-game hitting streak that included a couple of triples. Yastrzemski doesn’t collect a ton of extra-base hits, but doubles, triples, and home runs are all on the table. Plus, given Oakland’s pitching staff, Yastrzemski could also end up with multiple hits on Wednesday. With plus odds for an overlooked hitter, we’ll take a shot.
