We don’t need to tell you that it was a rather long all-star break. Thankfully, it’s over now and we’ll have baseball just about every day until the end of October. After such a long layout, it can be tough to know how players will perform, which can make prop bets a little harder than usual. But we’re not using that as an excuse. We’re staying aggressive with our picks, especially when it comes to the Dodgers, as you’ll see. Today’s odds are from Caesars Sportsbook, where new users can receive a bonus bet of up to $1,000 if they lose their first real-money bet on the site.

For some reason, the Nationals chose to give Patrick Corbin the start in the first game after the break. De La Cruz is surely happy about that, as he’s 5 for 8 with a home run in his career against Corbin. Keep in mind that De La Cruz went 1 for 2 in the all-star game and had an extra-base hit in three straight games before the break. Given his history against Corbin, De La Cruz is poised for a fast start in the second half of the season.

To be honest, we never thought that we’d actually favor Flexen with a prop bet this year. He’s 2-8 with a 4.82 ERA, so he’s the type of pitcher to fade. However, he has strong career numbers against most of Kansas City’s hitters and started to pitch better before the all-star break. The White Sox still aren’t winning his starts, but Flexen gave up just two runs over six innings in his last two starts before the break. He’s actually allowed two runs or less in six of his last nine starts going back to late May. Coming back from the break, hitters can be a little rusty, which is why we’ll back an overlooked pitcher like Flexen for plus money.

Ohtani hit a home run in the All-Star Game, so why not back him to open the second half of the season with one too? His next homer will be his 30th of the season after a scorching-hot June. Ohtani is also 4 for 9 with two home runs in his career against Boston starter Nick Pivetta, so this is a good matchup for him. Pivetta has allowed 13 home runs this season, so it’s not as if he’s immune to the long ball, making us feel good about this bet
On top of struggling against Ohtani, Pivetta also has poor numbers against Freeman, who is 12 for 33 with five extra-base hits in his career against the righty. With 41 extra-base hits during the first half of the season, Freeman is surely a threat to get an extra-base hit on Friday. He also has a good chance of getting multiple hits with Pivetta on the mound. With plus odds for Freeman to get multiple bases with a favorable matchup like this, we have to take it.
Since we’re going all-in on the Dodgers, we might as well fade Pivetta while we’re at it. Ohtani and Freeman aren’t the only members of the Los Angeles lineup who have hit him hard in the past. Giving up six hits doesn’t seem like that much, especially with plus odds, for a pitcher who gave up six hits against Oakland in his last start. In fact, aside from giving up one hit over seven scoreless innings against the Marlins last month, Pivetta has allowed at least six hits in five of his last six starts, making this an easy bet to target.
