Best MLB Prop Bets Today 2024 07 12

To wrap up the week, we’ve decided to focus our prop bets heavily on pitchers. That’s not to say that we’re backing every pitcher to succeed on Friday. In some cases, we chose a pitcher with a tough matchup and chose to fade them. Either way, most of our props to close out the week are pitchers with odds from Caesars Sportsbook, which is giving new users up to $1,000 in bonus bets if they lose their first wager on the platform.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Dodgers vs. Tigers (6:40 PM, EST)

Tarik Skubal Over 1.5 Walks (+108) at Caesars

Skubal has been outstanding all season, winning 10 games and posting the second-best ERA among starting pitchers. Naturally, he hasn’t given away a lot of free passes, walking just one over his first 13 innings in July. However, he faces a tough matchup on Friday against the Dodgers, who are one of the best teams in baseball at drawing walks. While Skubal has good control, he’s walked at least two batters in three of his last seven starts, so it’s plausible for him to walk multiple batters. We like the chances of that happening against the Dodgers.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Yankees vs. Orioles (7:05 PM, EST)

Cade Povich Over 2.5 Walks (+172) at Caesars

Povich is another pitcher who looks likely to walk a lot of batters on Friday. The 24-year-old lefty has been all over the place with his control in his six starts. In three of those starts, he’s walked at least three batters, including one start in which he walked five batters in less than five innings of work. That start happened to come against the Yankees, the team he’ll face on Friday. The Yankees are also one of the best teams in baseball at drawing walks. Povich doesn’t figure to have a lot of confidence against New York’s lineup, which should lead to several walks against a patient lineup.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Rangers vs. Astros (8:10 PM, EST)

Andrew Heaney Under 4.5 Strikeouts (+120) at Caesars

Heaney has found a groove, striking out at least seven batters in three of his last four starts. However, his strikeout total has been all over the place this season. He’s also facing a Houston lineup that has fewer strikeouts than any other team this season. In his two previous starts against the Astros this season, Heaney pitched just 7.1 innings and had a total of three strikeouts. This isn’t a favorable matchup for him, so given his inconsistency and Houston’s lack of strikeouts, we expect Heaney to have a low strikeout total on Friday.

Jose Altuve Over 1.5 Total Bases (-108) at Caesars

Heaney has had past struggles against several Houston hitters, including Altuve, who is 14 for 43 (.326) with six extra-base hits in his career against the lefty. That makes Altuve a good candidate to have an extra-base hit against Heaney on Friday. Keep in mind that Altuve also has nine multi-hit games in his last 16 games. He also has six extra-base hits during that stretch. Given his favorable matchup against Heaney, Altuve is an excellent candidate for multiple bases, which is why we like him as our only hitter prop of the day.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Mariners vs. Angels (9:38 PM, EST)

Tyler Anderson Over 4.5 Strikeouts (-157) at Caesars

Anderson isn’t among the strikeout leaders in baseball, although he’s coming off a brilliant outing against the Cubs in which he struck out 10. That gives him at least five strikeouts in three of his last five starts. Anderson is also facing the Mariners, who strike out more than any team in baseball. It’s also worth mentioning that Seattle’s roster has a combined 52 at-bats and 15 strikeouts against Anderson. That’s a strikeout every 3.5 batters, which should allow Anderson to manage at least five strikeouts on Friday.
