MLB isn’t doing us any favors on Monday with just seven games on the schedule. Nevertheless, we have one more week until the all-star break and we’re determined to make it a good one. We’ve had to look under the surface a little and find prop bets for players we don’t usually target. However, we feel good about the value we’ve managed to find on Monday. The odds we’re using are from Caesars Sportsbook, which is offering a risk-free bet up to $1,000 for new users on their first wager.

We didn’t end up fading St. Louis starter Miles Mikolas, although that’s not a bad play. Instead, we targeted Jesse Winker, who has a great history against Mikolas, going 5 for 13 (.385) with three extra-base hits. Winker has also had a somewhat overlooked season for the struggling Nationals, posting an .819 OPS. He also has three multi-hit games and six extra-base hits in his last five games. That’s a lot of positive momentum heading into a favorable matchup against Mikolas, which is enough to take plus odds on Winker.

Abbott is another player who is quietly putting together a great season. The lefty now boasts a 3.28 ERA and eight wins. Much of that he owes to the fact that he’s allowed two runs or less in four of his last five starts. That includes a start against the Yankees last week in which he conceded just one run on three hits over 3.1 innings. His walks are a little bit of a concern, although that should be less of an issue against the Rockies, especially since this game is in Cincinnati and not Coors Field. On their last road trip, the Rockies averaged just 2.8 runs per game, so we feel good about Abbott having another strong outing.

Buxton’s history against Chicago starter Chris Flexen caught our attention. While Flexen has been bad this year, he’s been atrocious in his career against Buxton, who is 7 for 9 with three doubles and two home runs. Based on those numbers alone, it’d be shocking if Buxton didn’t have a big game on Monday. The kicker is that he has had three straight multi-hit games and has seven multi-hit games in his last 11 games. He also has 13 extra-base hits in his last 13 games, which makes us feel like this is a safe bet, especially given his history against Flexen.
Unfortunately for Flexen, Buxton isn’t the only member of the Twins who’s had his number. Carlos Correa, Manuel Margot, and Jose Miranda also have a good track record against him. Flexen has also allowed at least six hits in three of his last four starts. He’s someone that the Twins should be able to knock around a little, especially considering that Minnesota has scored at least nine runs in three of its last four games. We’re getting even odds on Flexen to give up a lot of hits, which is almost too good to be true.

We don't usually like betting on a starting pitcher to win unless there are plus odds, but with Sale, this seems like a safe bet. The 35-year-old has already won 11 games for the Braves this season because he’s pitching well and going deep in games. Plus, we feel good about the Atlanta lineup giving Sale plenty of run support against Arizona’s Yilber Diaz, who is making his MLB debut. That should put Sale in an ideal position to win his 12th game of the season.
