Best MLB Prop Bets Today 2024 06 17

Welcome to Monday, folks! To open the week, we’re not going to overthink things too much. We’re going to stick to MLB prop bets on players we’ve known for a long time who find themselves in advantageous positions. We’re still taking some risks to find value, but we’ve tried to stick to players we know and trust. The odds for our bets come from Caesars Sportsbook, which is giving new users a no-sweat bet of up to $1,000 on their first wager once they sign up.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Cardinals vs. Marlins (6:40 PM, EST)

Sonny Gray Under 1.5 ER (-101) at Caesars

Regardless of how good Gray has been this year, Miami’s dreadful offense is driving our interest in this bet. The Marlins have lost five in a row and six of their last seven games. They’ve scored no more than four runs in their last 10 games, including a total of two runs during their three-game series with the Nationals over the weekend. In other words, Gray is facing an abysmal offense that couldn’t have less confidence at the moment. He’s also allowed one run or less in seven of his 12 starts. While most of those starts came early in the season, Gray allowed just one run over seven innings against the Pirates in his last start. He can surely do the same against Miami.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Red Sox vs. Blue Jays (7:07 PM, EST)

Yusei Kikuchi Under 6.5 Strikeouts (-111) at Caesars

This bet is what we like to call a trap. This is a high strikeout over/under because the Red Sox are among the league leaders in strikeouts. But Kikuchi isn't the pitcher to take advantage of that. Granted, he’s had a couple of big strikeout games this season. However, he’s been limited to six strikeouts or less in eight of his last 10 starts. He’s even pitched well in his last couple of starts but has had a modest strikeout total. Kikuchi doesn’t even have a strong track record against Boston’s hitters, so we doubt he’ll suddenly rack up a big total on Monday.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Mets vs. Rangers (8:05 PM, EST)

J.D. Martinez Over 1.5 Total Bases (+129) at Caesars

Don’t look now but the Mets have won five in a row, and Martinez has been in the middle of everything. During that five-game winning streak, Martinez has nine hits, six of which have gone for extra bases. We were actually tempted to take a chance on a home run prop for him. But since we’re getting plus odds on over 1.5 total bases, we’ll settle for that. On the other hand, Martinez is 2 for 7 against Jon Gray with both hits being home runs, so you never know.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Dodgers vs. Rockies (8:40 PM, EST)

James Paxton to Record Win (+146) at Caesars

Let’s face it, the Dodgers are a safe bet to beat the Rockies on Monday. It feels relatively safe, which is why we’re targeting Paxton to pick up the win. He endured a few rough starts, but he got back on track with six excellent innings against the Rangers in his last start. Los Angeles is 9-3 this year in Paxton’s starts with the veteran notching the win in six of those games. He’s facing a wildly inconsistent Colorado offense, so he should be able to stay in the game long enough to be eligible for the win.

Freddie Freeman Over 0.5 RBI (-115) at Caesars

We’re not getting the value we like to get with an RBI prop, but that comes with Freeman playing at Coors Field. Keep in mind that Freeman is 6 for 12 with three extra-base hits in his career against Cal Quantrill. He also has Mookie Betts and Shohei Ohtani getting on base in front of him. That should make it relatively easy for Freeman to collect an RBI on Monday.
