Best MLB Prop Bets Today 2024 05 23

As usual, Thursday gives us an abbreviated MLB schedule with just eight games. That means we had to do a little digging to find some valuable MLB prop bets we liked. But considering the successful week we’ve had thus far, we feel confident that we’ve been able to do that. The odds we’re using are from DraftKings Sportsbook, which is giving new users a no-sweat bet on their first wager up to $1,500.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Mariners vs. Yankees (12:35 PM, EST)

Gleyber Torres Under 0.5 Hits (+130) at DraftKings

Needless to say, we don’t have much confidence in Gleyber Torres to get a hit on Thursday. The fact that it’s a day game is already working against him, especially with Luis Castillo starting for the Mariners. Torres is a brutal 0 for 11 with five strikeouts in his career against Castillo. He's also hitting just .218 on the season. After a little hot streak last week, Torres has gone hitless in three of his last five games. Considering his history against Castillo, we’ll happily take plus odds on him going hitless again.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Padres vs. Reds (1:10 PM, EST)

Luis Arraez Over 1.5 Hits (+135) at DraftKings

Collecting multiple hits is what Arraez does. Even after a slow start to the season before his trade to San Diego, he’s worked his way up to a .330 average on the season. Arraez is fresh off a 4 for 5 performance on Wednesday, meaning he’s had at least two hits in seven straight games. That’s an astounding streak, but one we think he’ll continue. Keep in mind he's 3 for 6 in his career against Cincinnati starter Frankie Montas, so everything is pointing to another multi-hit game from Arraez.

Manny Machado Over 0.5 Strikeouts (-180) at DraftKings

While Arraez has past success against Montas, the same can’t be said of Machado. In all three of his at-bats against Montas, Machado has struck out. While these odds may not be the most lucrative, we were surprised to get odds this good for Machado striking out just once. Remember that Machado isn’t having his best season, as he's batting just .231. He also has 47 strikeouts in 47 games, including five in his last four games, which makes us think this is a safe bet.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Orioles vs. White Sox (7:40 PM, EST)

Grayson Rodriguez Under 4.5 Hits (+100) at DraftKings

Frankly, we’d like to place multiple bets on Rodriguez in this game. But we settled on him giving up four hits or less against the White Sox. The whole Chicago roster is a combined 3 for 17 (.176) in previous appearances against Rodriguez. The young Baltimore ace also owns a 3.15 ERA and allowed just one hit over six scoreless innings in his last start. Granted, he’s allowed four hits or less just three times in his seven starts this year. But against a White Sox team that's scored two runs or less in five of its last seven games, Rodriguez should dominate.

Jorge Mateo Over 0.5 Hits (-130) at DraftKings

Out of all of Baltimore’s hitters, Mateo has been one of the hottest over the past week. In fact, he’s been hot all month, collecting at least one hit in 12 of his last 15 games. That’s an excellent trend for a hitter who’s getting -130 odds to get one measly hit. Mateo is a relatively modest .256 hitter, but he’s in a good place right now. Plus, he and the Orioles are facing Mike Clevinger and his 5.56 ERA, so there should be plenty of Baltimore hitters registering a hit on Thursday.
