Best MLB Prop Bets 2024 05 20

We always have high hopes at the start of the week. Of course, with an abbreviated schedule on Monday, we’ve had to take a deep dive and switch things up. Fortunately, the Yankees and Astros are both in action on Monday, and we’ve decided to target those teams for most of our picks. The odds for Monday’s MLB prop bets are from DraftKings Sportsbook, which is offering Get a No Sweat First Bet up to $1,500 who sign up and place an initial bet of $5.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Mariners vs. Yankees (7:05 PM, EST)

Marcus Stroman Over 5.5 Strikeouts (+120) at DraftKings

By his nature, Stroman is inconsistent when it comes to strikeouts. But he has the type of repertoire that can get swing and misses and rack up his strikeout count. That’s why he’s been able to go over 5.5 strikeouts three times in nine starts. Keep in mind the Mariners lead the league in strikeouts, averaging more than 10 per game. With five or six good innings, Stroman should be able to reach six strikeouts, especially since he has good numbers against most of Seattle’s hitters. With plus odds, we think this is worth the risk despite Stroman’s inconsistency.

Anthony Volpe Over 1.5 Total Bases (+130) at DraftKings

Volpe has become a surprisingly good option to collect multiple bases. He’s currently on a 12-game hitting streak with four multiple-hit games during that stretch. Volpe also has an extra-base hit in five of his last seven games, so there is a good chance that just one hit will be enough to go over 1.5 total bases. The kicker is that he has a home run in one of his two career at-bats against Seattle starter Logan Gilbert. That makes us think that Volpe will stay hot on Monday.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Angels vs. Astros (8:10 PM, EST)

Framber Valdez To Record Win (+125) at DraftKings

Reports of Houston’s demise may have been exaggerated, as the Astros have won nine of their last 11 games. Valdez should benefit from that on Monday, as he looks to win his third straight game against the hapless Angels. Valdez has dominated weak lineups in his last two starts, allowing two runs on eight hits over 14 innings against the A’s and Tigers. The lefty should have no problem keeping it going against the Angels. Since Valdez routinely goes deep in games, he has a better chance to be the winning pitcher. Plus, the Astros should do some early damage against Reid Detmers and make this an easy win.

Kyle Tucker over 0.5 RBI (+145) at DraftKings

Now is a good time to target Tucker to get an RBI. He's the MLB home run leader with 15, so there is a chance he’ll just drive in himself. Tucker also bats right behind Jose Altuve, who has been a spark plug during Houston’s recent winning stretch. Altuve has a .500 on-base percentage against Detmers while Tucker is 5 for 16 with a double against him. Look for Altuve to get on base and Tucker to drive him in to collect another RBI.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Diamondbacks vs. Dodgers (10:10 PM, EST)

Joc Pederson Over 0.5 Hits (-165) at DraftKings

The Dodgers have Yoshinobu Yamamoto starting on Monday against Arizona. Despite throwing six scoreless innings against the Diamondbacks earlier this season, Joc Pederson went 3 for 3 against him. It's a small sample size, but 3 for 3 against Yamamoto stands out. It seems Pederson just matches up well against him. Keep in mind he's also batting .317 and has seven hits in his last four games. With surprisingly favorable odds, we’ll get behind Pederson to collect at least one hit on Monday.
