Best MLB Prop Bets Today 2024 05 08

As usual, Wednesday offers a mixed bag of day and night games. We tried our best to focus on the night games, which somehow led us to a hitter-heavy set of picks. The one pitcher we have listed is getting faded. Hopefully, that means plenty of runs are scored on Wednesday. All of our odds are courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook, which is offering new users $200 in bonus bets when they sign up and make a $5 bet.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Padres vs. Cubs (2:20 PM, EST)

Ian Happ Under 0.5 Hits (+110) at DraftKings

We usually don’t bet on batters going hitless in a game, but the value here is too great. First of all, Happ is batting just .228. Even though he had a good weekend, Happ is just 1 for 8 with four strikeouts over the first two games of Chicago’s series with the Padres. On Wednesday, Happ and the Cubs face Dylan Cease, who's having an outstanding season. In his career, Happ is just 1 for 16 with seven strikeouts against Cease. That's a lot of ineptitude against the San Diego ace. With Cease likely to go deep in this game, Happ may only get one at-bat against a reliever, reducing the chances that he’ll get a hit.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Diamondbacks vs. Reds (6:40 PM, EST)

Ketel Marte Over 1.5 Total Bases (+115) at DraftKings

Marte is one of those hitters we love targeting when he gets a favorable matchup. He’s batting .303 and has 19 extra-base hits in 36 games. Marte is in the midst of a six-game hitting streak with four extra-base hits during that stretch. He’s even homered in back-to-back games, making it clear that he’s in a good groove. In his career against Cincinnati starter Graham Ashcroft, Marte is 2 for 5 with both hits being doubles. That makes us think that Marte can collect multiple bases in this game one way or another, and with plus odds, we’ll take our chances.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Astros vs. Yankees (7:05 PM, EST)

Jose Altuve Over 1.5 Total Bases (+105) at DraftKings

While Carlos Rodon is off to a good start with the Yankees, he's been hittable at times. That includes giving up eight hits over four innings in his last start. He’s also had some trouble in his career against Altuve, who is 8 for 27 with three extra-base hits. That makes this a favorable matchup for Altuve, who is batting .336 and has four multi-hit games in his last eight games. Since Altuve is always a candidate to collect multiple hits and has 16 extra-base hits in 35 games, we like the plus odds he’s getting for multiple bases.

Spencer Arrighetti Under 14.5 Outs Recorded (+110) at DraftKings

It’s hard not to fade Arrighetti in some way since he’s 0-3 with an 8.27 ERA. Granted, he looked better in his last start, giving up just two runs over 5.2 innings. But that was the only time in four starts that Arrighetti has recorded more than 14 outs. In fact, his previous season high was 12 outs. Facing the Yankees in such a hitter-friendly park isn’t a favorable matchup for him. Plus, it’s not like he has a particularly long leash, which is why we can see him getting pulled before he reaches five full innings.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Mariners vs. Twins (7:40 PM, EST)

Max Kepler Over 1.5 Total Bases (+105) at DraftKings

Seattle’s George Kirby has been dominant lately, yielding just one run over his last 18 innings. But Kepler is 2 for 2 against him in his career. The German outfielder is also batting .323 with four consecutive multi-hit games. Kepler also has a hit in 13 of his last 14 games. While he’s lacking a little for power, Kepler is too hot right now not to take a chance on him, even against Kirby.
