The MLB schedule on Wednesday is full of day games, which tend to favor pitchers. We’re leaning into that with a pitcher-heavy set of prop bets. More times than not, we’re even betting on the pitcher to succeed. The matinee between the Yankees and Blue Jays is a focal point, but we have bets from other games too. All odds are from DraftKings Sportsbook, which is giving $200 in bonus bets to new users when they make a $5 bet.

Gausman is the one pitcher we’ve decided to fade today. His 11.57 ERA and the fact that he’s allowed at least five earned runs in back-to-back starts are the reasons for that. Keep in mind one of those starts was against the Yankees, the team he’ll face on Wednesday. Gausman followed up that bad outing with another disastrous start against the Rockies at home. Most of the big bats in New York’s lineup - Aaron Judge, Juan Soto, and Giancarlo Stanton - all have good career numbers against Gausman, who could have another long day on the mound.
Bet on Kevin Gausman at DraftKings
Soto is one of the hitters with a good track record against Gausman, which is why he’s the only hitter we’re targeting on Wednesday. He’s 4 for 10 with a home run against Gausman, so a multiple-hit game isn’t out of the question, especially since Soto is batting .324 on the season. Soto also has extra-base power and needs to step up with the Yankees trying to avoid the sweep. Given the year he’s having, we trust Soto to keep hammering Gausman more than the other Yankees.

Stroman is one of the more mercurial pitchers in baseball and doesn't always record high strikeout numbers. However, he had six strikeouts in six shutout innings against the Blue Jays earlier this month and seven strikeouts over five innings in his last start. On the season, Stroman has 17 strikeouts in 17 innings, which makes us think five strikeouts is realistic. Keep in mind that Stroman is pitching in Toronto, where he spent the first six years of his career. That will mean something to him, so we can expect a strong performance from him.

On the surface, it’s unusual to target anyone on the A’s for a prop bet. But Blackburn has been lights-out this season. He’s yet to allow a run in 19.1 innings, yielding just 11 hits over that span. He’s held two of the three teams he’s faced to below four hits, so we’ll take plus odds on Blackburn being able to do that again. The St. Louis lineup doesn’t have much experience against Blackburn, nor much success in that limited sample size. The Cards are also in the bottom third of the majors in hits and have managed just eight runs over their last four games. This is a subpar offensive team, so we’ll take our chances with Blackburn.
Bet on Paul Blackburn at DraftKings
Miller has been excellent in 2024 and should have a clear edge over the Reds in a day game. While Miller got rocked a little in his first start, he’s allowed no earned runs on just six hits in 13.1 innings across his last two starts. That has dropped his ERA to 1.96 and restored our faith in him. The Reds are already struggling, scoring just four total runs over their first two games in Seattle. It’ll be tough to turn that around against Miller, who should have no problem limiting Cincinnati to two runs or less.
