Cubs vs. Padres (9:40 PM, EST)

The Chicago Cubs are coming off a big win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday. Chicago has exceeded expectations this season. 

Chicago will face San Diego on Monday, and they have a tough matchup against Dylan Cease. Cease has not been great to start the season, but I expect him to pitch well against Chicago

It's always tricky to play on Sunday night and then respond at a high level on Monday. Jameson Taillon will throw for Chicago, and he has been horrendous to open the season.

San Diego's lineup should be able to feast off the right-handed pitcher.  Fernando Tatis Jr. has been fantastic this season at the plate.

He leads San Diego in home runs (4) and batting average (.351). Look for the Padres to jump on early fastballs and find a way to win the first game of this crucial National League series.

Dodgers vs. Rockies (10:10 PM, EST)

The Dodgers had a terrible weekend against the Cubs. Chicago went on the road and dominated the Dodgers in all aspects of the game. 

Los Angeles dropped two of three games to Chicago and were beaten 16-0 on Saturday. The Dodgers have now dropped three of their past five games and need to win on Monday because their division race is heating up quickly. 

Luckily for Los Angeles, they're playing the Colorado Rockies. The Rockies have been one of the worst teams in baseball all season.

Colorado enters with a 3-12 record, and they have not won a night game this season. Los Angeles needs to be much better offensively, but they have the matchup to produce runs on Monday. 

Dustin May will pitch for Los Angeles and has been fantastic this season. His ERA and WHIP are both under one, and he has allowed just four hits in 11 innings. 

May hasn't surrendered a home run in 2025, and if Colorado can’t go yard, they won’t win on Monday.

Yankees vs. Royals (7:05 PM, EST)

The New York Yankees were smoked by the San Francisco Giants this weekend. The Giants made critical plays, and New York failed to step up in the most significant moments of the series.

New York let the Sunday game slip away despite having every chance to win. Now, the Yankees are teetering with a record nearly below .500 and are in a must-win situation against the Royals. 

Even though it's only April, early-season games are critical for the playoff race. Carlos Carrasco will throw for New York, and he has not been great this season. 

Carrasco has a 7.71 ERA and will throw against Seth Lugo, who is 1-1 with a 3.24 ERA. Nevertheless, I believe the Yankees' bats will take them over the edge on Monday.
