The Mets will battle the Brewers with the season on the line tonight. New York took the first game of the Wild Card Series, while Milwaukee overcame a deficit in the eighth inning of game two to even the series.
New York’s momentum could be low, so we’re backing the Brewers in this contest. Additionally, we’re on both strikeout prop under bets with Jose Quintana and Tobias Myers.

The New York Mets and Milwaukee Brewers made it to the postseason in very different ways. The Brewers won the NL Central, and the Mets received a Wild Card bid.
Since the Mets needed to win game 161 to clinch, they entered the postseason with much momentum. They had a comeback win against the Braves to clinch a playoff spot and then took down the Brewers in the first game of this series.
However, everything changed in the bottom of the eighth inning when the Brewers made their run. Jackson Chourio and Garrett Mitchell went yard, changing the series' complexity.
When a team is on the road with a lead in game two and can’t finish, it’s usually not a good sign of things to come. Jose Quintana has been excellent to end the season, but his last start in Milwaukee resulted in a loss.
For the Mets to have a realistic chance, they need to blow out the Brewers early in this contest, which is highly unlikely with Tobias Myers on the mound.

Jose Quintana isn’t an electric strikeout pitcher. He threw 170 innings in the regular season and only fanned 135 batters.
Quintana relies on soft contact to get batters out, which will likely be the case against Milwaukee. The pitcher’s last start against Milwaukee was a strikeout masterclass, but this was a rarity in the season's scheme.
Quintana threw 4.1 innings and fanned nine batters over this span. While this was an excellent performance, we still lean under on his total.
Game three of the NLWC marks a must-win contest for both sides, and pitchers have a short leash. If this game is close, it’s doubtful Quintana goes through the order more than twice in this game.

Tobias Myers is the more dominant of the two starting pitchers in Thursday’s contest. Myers has been fantastic all season and could become the ace of Milwaukee’s staff in the coming seasons.
The 26-year-old right-hander went 9-6 with a 3.00 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP this season. His strikeout rate was much better than Quintana's, but he must improve this aspect of his game.
The pitcher has thrown 138 innings this season and struck out 127 batters. His elite pitching has led to many wins, but they have come through soft contact.
In Myers last start against the Mets on September 28, he threw four innings and allowed just one hit with five strikeouts. It wouldn’t surprise us if he dominated again, but he barely snuck over his strikeout line in his last start.
With the stakes raised on Thursday, Myers should be on the mound slightly less. If this happens, the pitcher will go under his strikeout line.
