The Rays have fallen apart in the AL East. We’re used to seeing Tampa Bay take care of business in the division and be competitive in the final month of the season. However, this isn’t the case in 2024.
On the other hand, the Twins are competing for a playoff position. They hold the final position in the American League Wild Card standings with a 3.5-game lead over the Red Sox.
Simeon Woods Richardson will throw for Minnesota. He is 5-3 with a 3.85 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP. Outside of a slight walk issue, he has been dominant this season.
Richardson has allowed just 100 hits in 117 innings. Zack Littell will throw for the Rays, and while he hasn’t been bad, we still give the nod to Richardson.
Littell is 5-8 on the season but has a 1.31 WHIP. This number must improve to give his team a realistic chance against the Twins. Minnesota is batting 20 points higher than the Rays, and they have scored 124 more runs in 2024.

The Red Sox are now nine games back in the AL East, and their one playoff chance is through the final Wild Card position. Unfortunately for Boston, the Mets are in the same position in the National League.
Both teams need a win to improve their playoff chances. New York has won two straight series and is playing very well. We can’t say the same about the Red Sox, who are just 4-6 in their past ten games.
Luis Severino will throw for the Mets. He is 9-6 with a 3.96 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP. He has similar numbers to Brayan Bello but has been more consistent.
Bello has a 4.66 ERA and a 1.37 WHIP. He has a severe walk issue, and we don’t believe he’ll receive much offensive support.

The World Series hangover has been real for the Texas Rangers. The team was expected to be a contender and compete for a second straight World Series ring. They’re out of the mix in the AL West, and we still have one month of games remaining.
Texas is trying to build some confidence heading into 2024, but they will need help on Monday. Gerrit Cole will pitch for New York and has started to find his Cy Young form.
Cole is 5-3 with a 3.86 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP. You can’t judge him on these numbers because he has been fantastic lately. Cole has a 1.93 ERA and a .221 opponent batting average in the past 30 days.
Andrew Heaney will throw for the Rangers. He has been solid with a 3.24 ERA in the past month, but we trust the Yankees with how Cole has been pitching. The Yankees lineup will deliver and provide run support if Cole does his job.
Aaron Judge and Juan Soto are baseball's two top hitters by OPS. Heaney will need help working around the stacked order.
